This is the second week discussing Bitten by Kelley Armstrong, this week we read chapter 7 (Blame) to 14 (Mistrust). In this episode we discuss all the ways in which wolves are not dogs, Elena's wolf origin story, how terrible Jeremy is at breaking bad news and we get some sketchy consent sexy and non-sexy scenes. We also discuss the awkwardness of being the only female in a naked werewolf pile, Elena's acting skills and what actually happens at a rave (since we've never been!). There's a brutal chase where a shot comes out of nowhere, the first pack death, some childhood trauma, years long lack of communication and we find out some more about who's behind all the trouble. We continue to talk about the war between Elena's werewolf life and human life and we have to ask the age-old question: is there a name worse than Philip?

This is our first episode discussing our new book for the month of June, Bitten by Kelley Armstrong. This week we are discussing the Prologue to Chapter 6 (Hunt). In this episode we learn all about the magic hiding in our normal everyday world. Specifically we see Toronto and New York, we learn about werewolves and meet our principal pup, Elena Michaels and her very human boyfriend Philip. We meet Philip's family and get a ton of backstory. We also meet the Pack, a group of werewolves that rule over all others, and surprise - Elena is an estranged but beloved member. We get into werewolf legends and politics and Elena and Clay (who is NOT her boyfriend) have to work together to catch a killer. How will we keep it all straight!

This is our 3rd week discussing Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo and we dive into chapters 13-17. This week we talk all things Alina and Darkling (with a bit of Mal). We see Alina living her best life; making friends, finally able to control her power and developing a relationship with the Darkling! We discuss trackers, amplifiers and winter fetes, and Alina finally learns the Darkling's real plans. Mal finally steps up and makes a rescue although he and Alina still get robbed! By the end Alina and Mal are almost back to their normal friendship.

This is week 2 of discussing Shadow and Bone! We go over chapters 6-12 this week. Alina meets the king of Ravka, we get a surprisingly treasonous comment and we continue to discuss the power clap. We meet Alina's new Grisha friends, get dramatic vibes from the darkling and Alina officially starts Grisha training. We get our first look at her teachers, a tour of the Little Palace and meet the unfortunate apparate. Alina gets hurt during training and she finally discovers something about herself!

This is our first episode discussing May's book of the month - Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo! Today we dive into the Grishaverse and all that entails! We meet our two loveable orphans, get angry with their caretakers, and discuss all things shadow fold. We also talk book Mal vs. show Mal, and how much we love the Darkling! We take an adventure on a sand skiff, meet some creatures with bat wings and and watch Mal and Alina get saved by the sun. Alina is more significant than she's ever known and is transported to a whole new world.  

This is our last week discussing Sarah J. Maas' A House of Earth and Blood! In this episode we talk chapters 71-98 (the end!). We question Bryce's "smart plan", her ability to put together a riffle and her quick thinking. We are confused by Sandriel's power moves, marvel at Hypaxia and her decisions, earn not one, but two climaxes (storylines, people!) and talk about how terrible Sabine and the Autumn King are. We also find out Bryce's secret, see a tragedy for Hunt, Danika makes her last stand (even though she's dead!) and we end on an impossible ultimatum from on high.

This is our second episode discussing Sarah J Maas' House of Earth and Blood. This week we are diving into chapters 15-32! We talk about what house we would be in (and no, this isn't Harry Potter), Hunt's side gig as a peeping tom/stalker, Bryce's antagonistic ways, secret libraries, Jesiba's reputation and if it's earned. We visit the meat market and discuss the different purchases you could make, Bryce's declining mental health, the demon that looks like a maggot with arms, pure blood supremacy and how legit an angel has to be to get into a club these days? Bryce gets a new roommate, trades favours with Ruhn, plays an airhead and refuses a supper date. We also debate safety options as an angel’s passenger.
