It's been a while since you've heard from us but don't worry, we're alright!
We hope you're all doing well, and if you've stuck with us- we want to seriously thank you. It means a lot.
But enough of that- get ready to jump back into the world of Coffee Table Fables! We've developed new methods of recording that we hope allows us to bring you more episodes while staying safe.

Tonight on Coffee Table Fables, Meghan tells the story of Br'er Rabbit - a trickster who succeeds by his wits rather than by brawn, provoking authority figures and bending social mores as he sees fit. Amanda teaches us about Janus - the god of beginnings, gates, transitions, time, duality, doorways, passages, and endings. He is usually depicted as having two faces, since he looks to the future and to the past.

Tonight on Coffee Table Fables, Meghan tells us about the chupacabra! A legendary creature in the folklore of parts of the Americas, with its first purported sightings reported in Puerto Rico. The name comes from the animal's reported habit of attacking and drinking the blood of livestock, including goats. Amanda gives us the tale of Hansel and Gretel! A German fairy tale recorded by the Brothers Grimm and published in 1812. Hansel and Gretel are a young brother and sister kidnapped by a cannibalistic witch living in a forest in a house constructed of gingerbread, cake, confection, candy, and many other treats.

Tonight on Coffee Table Fables, Meghan discusses Davy Jones Locker! An idiom for the bottom of the sea: the state of death among drowned sailors and shipwrecks. It is used as a euphemism for drowning or shipwrecks in which the sailors' and ships' remains are consigned to the depths of the ocean. Afterwards, Amanda tells us about the Pied Piper: the titular character of a legend from the town of Hamelin, Lower Saxony, Germany. The legend dates back to the Middle Ages, the earliest references describing a piper, dressed in multicolored clothing, who was a rat-catcher hired by the town to lure rats away with his magic pipe.
