In October 2010, Russell Williams, a former Canadian Armed Forces Colonel, was sentenced to life in prison for the murders of two women, and given 82 separate, year-long sentences for breaking and entering, among other crimes related to sexual assault. Most notably, Williams had a penchant for breaking into the homes/bedrooms of women and girls for the purpose of posing in their underwear and photographing himself.
While his crimes are notorious, his motivation for committing them is unknown. The only trauma noted from his childhood is a divorce between his parents, and then another later in adult life when he became upset at his mother and stepfather divorcing. But that’s the key to the lock we need to open to reveal his truth.
