Radiology Program Director and ASRT Speaker of the House , Daniel DeMaio (Med, RT, CT), comes on to share so many important aspects that medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals have to offer in the field of medicine. Mr. DeMaio really highlights the importance of engaging within our profession to educate and demonstrate the importance of having qualified and credentialed staff behind every exposure button.
We hit the hard topic of the label "button pusher" and explore how we can better recognize our efforts in ensuring that this is not how our profession is perceived. Mr. DeMaio also explains wonderfully about how we need to recognize these advancements digital while still understanding the artistry behind each of our images.
Mr. DeMaio shares a bit within the education portion of his career, offering advise for students as well as those looking to go into the educational career path. While working as an educator he sought opportunity and became the sole author the Mosby's CT review manual (1st, 2nd, and 3rd edition). Sharing about how sometimes having a little bit of luck, being in the right place, and working hard brings many opportunities.
In the end we talk about the value of the RA role and how this advanced level degree maintains the continuum of physics and radiation safety to our patients and to all in the imaging field.
We were grateful to have had the opportunity to share these conversations and learn more about who each of us are, the importance we bring, and the value of connecting. Mr. DeMaio it was an honor, thank you for your kindness and taking the time to visit with us.
