Here is a famous and recognized Biblical story of the three Hebrew children and the fiery furnace. Involved in this narrative is this tension between man-made laws and the laws of God. What do Christians do when to obey God causes one to disobey man-made laws? Today, we look at this ancient story and discover the power and deliverance of God for those who honor HIM. 

Today, as we begin in the 3rd chapter of Daniel, we examine the WHY behind King Nebuchadnezzar's desire to build a statue similar to the one he had in his dream. Pride has such a sly way of infecting all humankind. Especially the kind of pride that would blind us spiritually. Today's, message is designed to cause us to stop and consider why we do what we do, and why we want what we want.

Today, we see what happens when Daniel tells King Nebuchadnezzar his dream and its interpretation. Daniel is a great witness for the Lord before this pagan King. What we discover is that God was demonstrating HIS favor to Nebuchadnezzar as a direct result of Daniel's God given favor. God's ultimate goal for favor is for HIS purposes which typically benefit others. Therefore, we discover how we are interconnected with others as we receive and give from a supply of favor and grace that had its beginning from God. 

Today, we consider the act of worship and thanksgiving and its connection with our understanding and comprehension of God's unmerited favor given freely to us. Using an event that Jesus experienced with a Pharisee named Simon we try to connect that event and the ancient account that Daniel experienced. 

Today, we examine Daniel chapter 2 and we see the tension between Daniel and the weakness of the King's magicians, sorcerers, enchanters and astrologers. There are many groups that claim they alone have truth and make false claims. Daniel lived and worked among this tension but due to the favor of God, he honored God and brought to King Nebuchadnezzar a clear picture that there is only one true God. 

Today, we begin looking into the book of Daniel. One cannot read the narrative portions of Daniel and not miss the favor God demonstrates to Daniel and his three friends. God's favor comes in many forms and for many reasons but there seems to be one overarching purpose that we discover today.

Both have a common theme of how God deals with the deliverance of man from the coming wrath of God. How does this deliverance relate to us today? What does that look like?
