The Buckeyes have more than a shot to make the playoff, contrary to popular belief, they still can win the National Championship. Ohio State is ranked 5th in the latest CFP rankings, and all they need is either TCU or (more favorably) USC to lose this coming Championship Weekend. Utah is favored to beat USC according to ESPN's FPI and TCU is barely favored by the same analytics over Kansas State. Both the No.3 and No.4 teams in the country are also favored by less than a touchdown to win their games according to oddsmakers. The chance for Ryan Day and CJ Stroud to make the playoff and possibly win it all are more than real, and the former might become real before our very eyes on selection Sunday.

The 2022 Big Ten Championship Game embodies the awesomeness that this season has provided us. Neither Purdue nor Michigan were picked to make the trip to Indianapolis this season, and here we are, as the Boilermakers and Wolverines will face off at 8:00 PM ET on FOX. Michigan Football has the opportunity to have their first 13-win season in school history, and also an opportunity to punch their ticket to the Playoffs as the No.1 seed (if Michigan wins in a more impressive fashion compared to Georgia or if the Dawgs somehow lose). Purdue Football has a chance to win their 4th game against AP Top 3 opponents in the Jeff Brohm era, and go to their first Rose Bowl in over 2 decades.

Ohio State and Michigan will face each other in an undefeated matchup. No win is guaranteed, and yesterday's struggle against the Terrapins on the road showed that. QB Taulia Tagovailoa arguably outplayed CJ Stroud, and if not for RB Dallan Hayden, the Buckeyes could have found themselves needing a last-minute score to win. Hayden, who replaced TreVeyon Henderson, rushed for 146 yards and had 3 touchdowns. Ohio State's run defense had similar success to its run offense, shutting down star Maryland RB Roman Hemby.

Indiana was a guaranteed win. The key word is WAS. The Spartans, despite outgaining the Hoosiers in 1st downs, time of possession, and total yards, lost 39-31 in 2OT yesterday afternoon in the snow. Tom Allen picked up his 2nd Big Ten win this season, while Michigan State falls to 5-6 (3-5) and is dangerously close to losing bowl eligibility with a game against Top 10 Penn State looming over the horizon. This game is a reflection of the much-needed staff changes that Mel Tucker has to make in the 2022 postseason.

Blake Corum left early in the second half injured, and from there it looked as if Michigan's 10-0 start to the season might die painfully before a trip to Columbus. Thanks to K Jake Moody, who went 4/4 on FGs today, Michigan moved on to 11-0 (8-0) in an anxiety-inducing 19-17 win.

Ohio State's much-anticipated matchup with Michigan, The Game, is not even two weeks away. Both teams are currently 10-0, and they will likely be 11-0 each when they face each other on November 26th. However, both still have one more game left, and coaches and players know that no game is a guaranteed win. Just 5 years ago in 2018, Maryland was a 2-point conversion away from pulling a massive upset against a Buckeye squad that finished No.3 nationally and won the Big Ten and the Rose Bowl with a 13-1 record. Now, both teams face each other again in College Park, both running similar, pass-heavy spread offenses, and both having QBs with NFL talent and good physical tools. Can Maryland pull the unthinkable, or is this simply a warmup for Ohio State before The Game of The Century?

Mel Tucker has led his team to 2 straight November wins after starting out 3-5 (1-4) in his first 8 games. There is no doubt that, despite several suspensions on defense, the Spartan defense has improved dramatically and the team has rallied after losing their rivalry game to Michigan. The recruiting class still has 10 4 stars and the Spartans still have momentum on their side. However, I think some changes on the staff need to be made if Tucker wants to take Michigan State to the level of a conference or national contender. OC Jay Johnson and DC Scottie Hazelton are the biggest names that attract possible changes, along with DB coach Harlon Barnett and OL coach Chris Kapilovic.

Michigan is 10-0 for the first time since 2006, and I think they will match the 11-0 start of the same squad with a win over the Illini this week. However, nothing is guaranteed on a college football Saturday and the Wolverines should come prepared for Illinois and their solid, efficient, trench-play-focused style of football. Both Michigan and Illinois have Top 5 scoring defenses (Michigan is No.1 with 11.2 PPG and Illinois is No.3 with 12.5 PPG), but Michigan has the No.5 scoring offense (41.4 PPG) while Illinois has the No.88 scoring offense (24.7 PPG). Both also have RBs that place in the Top 3 for total rushing yards nationally and these team's OLs are finalists for the Joe Moore Award. These two Big Ten teams play a similar style of football, with Michigan having far more talent and being miles ahead in offensive production. I expect Michigan to handily win, especially with Illini RB Chase Brown possibly being out.

Both Maryland and Penn State are out of contention for the Big Ten title, however, both can contend for a nice bowl game (Penn State can contend for an NY6 Bowl bid) if they win the remainder of their games. Penn State has dominated their "rivalry" with Maryland, with James Franklin going 6-2 in his stretch with Penn State and the Nittany Lions only losing to the Terrapins once before. However, with NFL WRs Dontay Demus and Rakim Jarrett and star QB Taulia Tagovialoa and RB Roman Hemby, the Maryland offense has the potential to beat Penn State the same way they did back in 2020. Beaver Stadium is a challenging place to win, and that coupled with an improved Penn State team should make this a good game.
