In episode 8 of the Colour Kristina Talks Podcast I am very excited to be chatting today with the amazing director of six underground media, Hayley Mears. So, if you’re not really in love with how your brand looks on social media, then this is the podcast for you.
The team at six underground media are your one stop online shop for all the social media tiles you’ll every need. Hayley is an ex-hairdresser turned marketing guru that creates digital products to elevate how your brand looks online.
I personally have hired the team at six underground media for several and varied projects to help create branded content for my education biz digital promotions. These have included unique social media tiles, banners for EDM’s, plus animated GIF’s and social media advertising advise. Six Underground Media has also created contracts for Colour Corrections and Influencer agreements that can be changed to suit your needs. Examples offered within my show notes as the freebie download on my website www.kristinarussell.com.au
Hayley’s top 3 tips for socials + digital marketing:

This episode shares how to approach every consultation with confidence, and how to achieve a shared reality between the client and the hairdresser. Learn my exact steps to discover how to listen and suggest what technique is possible for the time allowed.
I am a Haircolour Expert that specializes in complex colour corrections and creative Hairpainting, which can tend to attract fussy or hard to please clients from time to time based on my expert reputation. When you have clients that are fussy or have been unhappy for a long time it’s important to acknowledge the emotions first, and then chat about their hair.
Sometimes you need to consider saying no to a client if you believe you cannot meet their expectations. I discuss alternative options for the “N” word and consider both hairdresser and salon owners' point-of-view on this topic, and more importantly the client. We as Salon Professionals, need to ensure every client has professional experience with your guide to what’s possible.

Hi there! My name is Kristina Russell (pronouns she/her/hers). I am the host of the Colour Kristina Talks Podcast.
I am proudly the Australian Ambassador for the Dresscode Project, a global alliance of salons and barbershops committed to providing positive, gender-affirming services for LGBTQ2S+ clients. In Episode 6 of The Colour Kristina Talks Podcast, I talk with the amazing Canadian based stylist and salon owner, Kristin Rankin, creator of the Dresscode project.
When you're gender non-conforming, non-binary or transgender getting your hair cut can create a lot of anxiety.
My mission as an Independent Educator is to use my voice to make changes in the way we look at #genderfreehair and to understand the concept of consultations and hairdressing skills that are based on hair inspo, as opposed to gender stereotypes. Within every Kristina Russell Education event, I share information and resources pertaining to the Dresscode Project. This podcast is an educational resource suitable for hairdressers, salon owners, consumers, clients and ally’s of the Dresscode Project and queer communities to become informed and know how to find or create a gender-affirming salon.
Simply put, Dresscode Project is about unity, acceptance, equity, safer spaces and teaching our industry that diversity is the future.
For many in our communities going to a salon and asking for a haircut that is not traditionally associated with our sex as assigned at birth is a scary and difficult experience. That wonderful happy transformation is less accessible. Our communities are wonderfully expressive and inclusive but are often denied this experience that comes without question to the straight community. Kristin Rankin has always been passionate about creating an inclusive environment, but when they realized how widespread discrimination is in the industry that they love and work in – they knew it had to change. Kristin is working to eradicate homophobia, transphobia, and discrimination according to race, sex, and gender in salons worldwide.
