  • 3. C'n P: Dessert, Democracy & 2 Tenacious Candidates

I took the back roads awhile back and met with two tenacious, talented, educated and determined women who tossed their hats in the ring to represent their neighborhoods, and fight for the livelihood of their districts. Tara Anura, Democrat for MO. State Senate District 16 and Randi McCallian for MO Congressional District 8.

I was a bit concerned, interviewing two candidates at once, but they quickly put me at ease.  Please enjoy this conversation, and reach out to these courageous candidates at:

  • 3. C'nP Gail Derring, Chairwoman of the Wright County Mo. Democrat Club

This podcast was recorded in May 2022, and this posting was delayed due to my back injury flareup.  I was excited to meet Gail, as I had been following her on FB.  It was an impromptu meeting, so I didn't have notes or questions lined up to discuss with her.  This conversation was "off the cuff", however, I completely enjoyed meeting and discussing her background and the political climate we are in these days.  Seriously, I am trying to work on my ADHD interruptions, but I think we had a lively, informative and candid discussion about our political atmosphere as we see it these days.

Gail has a FB Page: Wright County Democrat Club that you can search for, friend, follow and participate in.  Maybe you have family or friends in Wright County?  Follow Gail on the Wright County Democrat Club page and share your ideas, thoughts, questions and suggestions!

Reach out to me on my FB page: Cook'n Politics and or Coming Out Of the Kitchen... PM me there with your questions, suggestions, ideas and/or thoughts.  I want to get better at this, provide more content, learn to quit interruptions and provide listeners with more information about the law makers in our state, and or the women in our world who STILL do NOT have equal rights in this countries Constitution.

  • 3.8 Pt. 1, The Nixa Book Ban - More Kool Aid

I struggled with a name for this Podcast.  I feel blessed that Battlefield MO retired teacher and new Author, Debra Waldon Davis drove all the way out to my farm to Co-Host this one with me.

What can I say?  Missouri is hell bent on making Missouri the Dumb and Dumber state, so much for the Show Me State.

In this Podcast Debra and Cass discuss the books that the Nixa Mo School is now tasked to review and restrict and or ban 16 books.   And while I state numerous times that I was unable to read the books prior to the Podcast, I checked with 2 online book review sites to get the gist of what the books are about.  And while discussing the list of books, Debra and I created an acronym for the group of People, organizations, churches or cults who felt that these 16 books were just beyond acceptable to be see, heard about and or read, 17 POCC (pronounced poke).

Ya'll know that you can reach out to me at: [email protected] or COOK'[email protected] to share your opinions and or thoughts about my podcasts. You can also share your thoughts and opinions with Debra at [email protected].  And as Debra works on writing her 5th book, check out her other books at her website: www.debrawaldendavis.com

  • The Experience of a Lifetime: Patsy Mink

Honoring and incredible woman, Patsy Takemoto Mink, during Women's History Month. I am in Awe at the challenges she faced, her strength to face them, her amazing accomplishments.  She didn't let racism, male chauvinism, gender bias or dirty backroom tricks hold her back or stop her from achieving the goals she set out to accomplish.

Born in Hawaii, her father, a civil engineer, her mother a stay-at-home mom, Patsy set out into the world with the determination to accomplish all of her goals!

I had some glitches, along with my struggle to pronounce some names, and again, somehow Patsy became "Cathy", wierd.... but I have to say, I am so glad I stumbled upon Patsy Mink, she is someone I could only strive to be like.
