US sharemarkets ended little-changed on Monday with gains in biotechs offsetting losses in the energy sector. Biotech shares were boosted by news of Pfizer's $14 billion acquisition of cancer drug maker Medivation. Traders also reflected on the earnings season. According to Thomson Reuters, of the 479 companies in the SP 500 that have reported earnings, 71% have beaten expectations. Earnings are down 2.3% in the quarter with energy faring the worst. The Dow Jones index fell by 23 points or 0.1%. The SP 500 index fell by 0.1% and the Nasdaq lifted by 6 points or 0.1%.
