Dr. Jess Dunleavy is a Research Fellow at the Male Infertility and Germ Cell Biology lab within the School of Biosciences at The University of Melbourne and her research focuses on understanding the mechanisms that drive sperm production, with relevance to male infertility, contraceptive development, and the implications on health more broadly. She has a particular interest in the dramatic remodelling processes that transform nondescript sperm precursors into highly specialised sperm cells that possess a motorised tail and a streamlined hydrodynamic shape - rendering them capable of surviving and traversing the female reproductive tract and achieving fertilisation.
Recognised with multiple international and national awards, including accolades from the Society for Reproductive Biology and the Male Contraceptive Initiative, Jess's work exemplifies excellence in male reproductive biology.
She also serves as an Associate Editor for esteemed journals like Molecular Human Reproduction and Reproduction Fertility and Development.
