Happy New Year! We have finally made it to 2021! Like you, I must admit it seemed as if 2020 would last forever! Now that the new year is here, what will you do with it? Do you make resolutions? Are you setting goals to crush as this new year rings in? How are you prioritizing your life to maximize your potential in 2021? While the recognition has gone unnoticed in many places, one role where Black women have always been placed on a pedestal is in their family. The Black Matriarch is incomparable, but is that position slowly losing its importance in Black culture? While the 80s and 90s boasted of the Claire Huxtables of the world, the Black Matriarch looks completely different in 2020 so has she lost her crown?

We are grateful for God’s amazing grace and we have witnessed His power in our lives even in the midst of what has proven to be the hardest days of our lives. In the gospel of Matthew, Jesus told Peter “upon this rock I will build my church the gates of hell shall not prevail against it,” and then gave him the keys to the Kingdom. In essence, Jesus told his disciple that the church had all the power it needed in order to perform the work of the Kingdom. Fast forward to 2020 and the doors of the church are no longer opened, but many of them have been forced to close. Where is the church? Has it lost its power? Will the church be forever changed? Is the church succumbing to the world’s fate? Let’s discuss what’s happening in the world around us and ask ourselves the question, if the Savior were still walking around the world- what would Jesus do?

All of my life, the one thing people have noticed most about me is my love for the Lord and that works for me! In some instances, that attention has been negative and on some occasions, it has been positive; but we know God works all things for His glory! If I’m crazy about anything, I’m crazy about the God who loved me first!
