This is a conversation I have been so eager to share with you! I had the absolute biggest honor in interviewing one of my favorite authors, Nicole Zasowski, about her book What If It's Wonderful?  This book changed how I personally look at celebration and walked me through healing I didn't know I needed.

Nicole is a licensed family and marriage therapist, writer, speaker, mother to 3 adorable children and wife to Jimmy. In her books, (yes there are multiples!) she reveals her own story of how challenges such as unwanted transition, multiple miscarriages, and crippling anxiety gave her empty hands to receive everything she had been looking for in the presence and Person of Jesus Christ. Nicole’s message invites others to discover how the surprising path to healing begins when we lose our grip on what we have known, and swerve right into God’s transforming grace, where we find what we need.

Her book ,What If It’s Wonderful? , which we talk about in this episode, offers a new perspective on celebration. With a compelling psychological and spiritual case for the importance of embracing joy and celebration, even when it feels scary.

I couldn't have planned it this well, it was all God! How appropriate that the week that most of the world is celebrating darkness we are talking about suiting up and wearing the armor of God! Isn't God awesome like that?

My friend Ashley Kain is joining me this week to discuss how we can wear the armor of God in our every day life. She is a victorious child of King Jesus, wife to her husband Heath who pastors Fountain Church in LaGrange, IN and a momma to some wonderful kiddos. Her heart is for the Lord! She has been through trials of many kinds in her life, but Jesus transformed her and now she is spreading the gospel near and far! She knows what it means to battle the enemy and how vital it is to actively use the protective armor God gives us. She gives us some practical and simple ways we can do that today and every day!

This week is a VERY SPECIAL EPISODE! I was recently given the opportunity to speak at the Michiana Women's Conference in Michigan. It was the experience of a lifetime and I am so blessed that God chose me to share on such a worthy topic.

 I was actually able to download the raw audio from the conference so you won't miss anything that was said! With that info, please note that this is audio from a live event, so keep your hand close to the volume button, you may have to turn it up a tad bit.

What I shared on was being deeply rooted in God's word and how that looks in our every day life. You know me, I love making things as    simple as     God intended them to be! Us humans complicate stuff, and I'm here to help remind us just how simple God makes it!
What does it look like to be deeply rooted in the word? 
How do we do that?
What is keeping us from spending time with God?
How do we combat the "busy" in our lives?
How do we understand what's going on in scripture?

ALL.THE.THINGS! I tried to leave no stone unturned when it came to understanding how to get into the word!

This week I am joined by another speaker from the 2023 Michiana Women's Conference, Ingrid Lochamire. She is the absolute sweetest new friend of mine!

 Ingrid is a seasoned daughter of the King  who delights in seeing women embrace  and celebrate their unique identity  in Jesus. A former Bible study teacher and  leader of women’s ministry, she finds herself  in a season of deep reflection and obedience  as God equips her to use the gift of spiritual friendship to walk alongside and disciple  other women.

She was so kind to join me on the podcast to share some of what she is teaching at the conference concerning our quiet time and prayer. This week we have the awesome privilege of giving you a sneak peek into what is being shared at the upcoming Michiana Women's Conference!

Oct 20-21, 2023 in Sturgis, MI at Radiant Life Church there is going to be a gathering of hundreds of women who are seeking to deepen their roots in Christ. Learning what it means to walk in the spirit, abide in the quiet and be deeply rooted in his holy word. For the next 3 weeks we are going to chat with each of the speakers who will be sharing at the conference so if for some reason you can't make it, you are still learning some great practical tips on how to deepen your roots with Jesus.

First up is Jennifer Smith, the founder of Alabaster Heart Ministries, the ministry doing the conference! She is an artist, writer, ministry leader, wife, mother, new grandma and wonderful friend. She has a passion to help women encounter Jesus in ways that will draw them closer to the Lord.

At the conference she will be sharing about being deeply rooted in the Spirit. She gave us some of the highlights from what she will share and I personally think they are great steps that we could take even today!! It's never too late to grow in your relationship with Christ and learning what it means to be deeply rooted in the Holy Spirit is a big step in that!

Intentionally living for Christ is simple enough but man can it be hard to do in the every day of life. If you've been keeping an eye on my social media lately you've seen that the Lord has really laid it on my heart to share with you about this very topic. How to go back to the simplicity of a relationship with Jesus. My new friend Lynette and I dive into this topic today.

Lynette Carpenter is a wife, mother of four and podcaster who is passionate about encouraging others to go deeper in their relationship with God.  She and her husband, Tim, have been ministering to teens at their home church, Firm Foundation Ministries of Centreville, for nearly 12 years.  She shares practical ways on how to live a life of victory, peace and joy on her podcast, The Walking on Water podcast.

Joy. It's something we all want more of but is it something we all experience to the fullest? My new friend Season joined me this week on the podcast to talk about just that and all things concerning joy!

Her debut book, The Joy Bringer Challenge: Living the Power of the Good News, intentionally lays out a road map of discovery and healing for the reader to know where they are going and what lies ahead with the goal to live like the gospel is good news. She gives practical steps on how to encounter and live in joy throughout our lives, even if we don't feel joyful.

S3E8- Transitions and change aren't necessarily anyone's favorite thing to go through. Life is full of them though isn't it?! How do we handle those gracefully and humbly with the Lord leading us? Today my wonderful new friend Millie and I tackle that very topic. She shares her wisdom and insight on how to handle the transitions and changes in life well with the Lord.

Millie Watkins is a lifelong educator, wife, mother and grandmother. She has worked as a teacher, principal and superintendent in K-12 schools and served as the Regional Director for Migrant Education in north central Washington State. She speaks at church events, emphasizing God’s calling for each of us to follow his leadership into those places where our gifts intersect with the needs of those he places in our path.

Millie has recently added writing, especially blogging, to her activities. At the center of her writing is the conviction that God is always at work in our lives and in the lives of those we encounter. As we trust him and the work he is already doing, he will guide us to take those steps that harmonize with his purposes for ourselves and those we seek to bless.

She is someone you will want to keep close tabs on and get in your inbox! She has so much wisdom and insight to share, get that in your life!!

S3E6- Today's conversation is one of those things we all know exists but don't normally talk about. There are a number of reasons we don't talk about human trafficking. Maybe we aren't well educated on what all it entails or we don't really know what to say, either way, today is going to give you some clarity and information on the topic.

This conversation is more of an adult one, so you may want to pop in those headphones. But please, use the information you learn to inform your family about the signs and dangers of human trafficking.

My guest today is Dawnna Plummer, the founder of Beloved: Not Forgotten. She has a heart for those who are victimized by this industry and runs this blessed local nonprofit organization to help them and bring awareness. Her story is such a God led one and I'm excited for you to hear it today!

At Beloved: Not Forgotten, they provide a safe, loving, home-like environment for women who have been victimized by sexual exploitation and/or trafficking, and they equip them to begin their healing journey. Their trauma-informed staff and volunteers provide opportunities for growth in life skills, addiction recovery, counseling, wellness, and faith. They also prepare the women to gain the most from the program by stabilizing the whole person physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and spiritually.

Financial Information Mentioned in the Conversation:
The operating budget for 2023 is $189,400.
That breaks down to $15,570/month or $174/resident/day.
This number includes the participant care, i.e. medical care and day-to-day living expenses; rent, utilities, program expenses, staff salaries and training, etc.
