Vlad describes himself as 'The Only Comedian from Macedonia... So the Best Comedian from Macedonia'. He talks about what it's like being in a relationship with another comedian; the difference in education costs between the UK and Macedonia; and why Brits seem obsessed with saying sorry!

Aisha Amanduri swears Kazakhstan is a real country, even if countless men in pubs have been offended by the presumed lie. She also swears by the mullet and mink coat style combo. Where does the myth of British politeness come from? Definitely not from historical accuracy. Why are power outlets banned in UK bathrooms? Is it to prevent depressed Brits from taking their lives, or is it so that you plug everything outside your bathroom, perpetuating the great British tradition of tripping on your way to the loo? Who objectively is the best Spice girl? All of these questions and more will NOT be answered clearly on this episode of Confused Immigrants, and if we attempt to, none of our answers should be taken as fact.

The life of Neethu Sathyanathan could easily be a romcom, but one of those indie ones where the protagonist ultimately finds love within herself and yada yada yada. Rosemary Dean is a dream, a healthcare professional by day and a comedy improviser by night, she will carefully choose her answers and try to improvise her way out of a very rigged game of ‘Legally British’. Military pre-school, tough love, book burning, divorce, slut shaming, broken engagements, more slut shaming, fleeing the country, rags to riches, atonement, forgiveness, and following a Victorian dating etiquette.

This week Confused Immigrants travels to Spain! The land of siesta, fiesta and money-laundering monarchs. In this very special episode we interview actress Karina Kolokolchykova (Awareness, The Grandmother), about her story leaving Ukraine aged two, living above a sex-shop in London and being taunted for mispronouncing ‘marihuana’ in class. Relocating to Spain at eleven years old, Karina explains navigating stereotypes in her personal and professional life, and tells us when to fight, and when to embrace, typecasting when building a successful career in the performing arts. On the second half we turn our signature game Legally British into… Legally Spanish? Karina grills born Spaniard Pablo Saura with questions from the Spanish citizenship test, shaming him about how little he knows about his own country.

Maya is not an immigrant, but her parents definitely are — and we’re all confused. Pablo about dried fruit in pudding, Maya about her cultural identity and Eliza about the rules of the ‘Legally British’ pop quiz. It’s tough growing up trilingual when you’re not posh and your parents are foreigners, but we can all find comfort in the fact that London is made by the immigrants (and the queers, and POCs). Like the true ally that she is, Eliza will blow the whistle on every douchebag in British history and walk away decorated with the highest of honours: a Confused Immigrants podcast sticker.
