Nowhere in the Bible does it say that we should wait passively for Christ’s return. This is a time to get busy, building the Kingdom of God, and evangelizing the lost. Pray for the lost. Share the gospel. Make disciples where you live and work. Invite someone to church. Ask questions. Discuss current events. But most importantly, live as a credible witness.

Read John 9:1-7. When Jesus healed the man who had been born blind, there was a uniqueness to this miracle more than any of the others. Ordinarily, when Jesus healed someone, He’d touch them or simply say, “You’re healed,” and they’d be healed! But this time was different. People say, “God bless you!” But have you ever thought what that word means? What’s a blessing? How do you define it?

The word “bless” in the Bible is the Greek word makarios. Makarios is the word for “happy.” Jesus begins the Sermon on the Mount by talking about eight ways to be blessed by God. As we study Scripture, we find that the problem isn’t with God; the problem is with us. God wants to bless your life; you just have to get bless-able.

The Beatitudes are the eight conditions for receiving God’s blessing in your life.
