  • Content as a Sales Tool

In this Content Matterz podcast episode, Eric Kasimov talks with Diane Tarshis, Founder of the Startup Distillery. Diane talks about how outsourcing sales is the one thing she hasn’t seen that can be outsourced.

However, as we talk about in this episode, your content is a sales tool. So the way to outsource sales is to allow content to be part of the sales process.

Often, I talk about how content is so much more than a driver of new business. And it is. Benefits of content include becoming a better communicator, practice for your listening skills, recruiting new employees, training your team, thinking through ideas, meeting new people, exploring topics of interest, and the list goes on. But yes, sometimes as Diane says, you need to drive business. And if you see content as a sales tool along with all the other benefits of content creation, then all of the sudden you have outsourced your content to leveraged media.

How should you use content as a sales tool?

I’ll give you an example: You listen to our podcast. Perhaps like the podcast. You like the sound quality, you like the conversation, you like that it makes you think, you like the music we use, you like the text you read that supports the podcast episode, and so on. That leads you to you reaching out to us to talk about our podcast production services. Maybe it wasn’t so direct. Maybe it was the fifth time you came across something of ours–either way the content you consumed led you to reach out to us about us building your new podcast. That’s content as a sales tool.

Now, what if you don’t like our podcast, to which I say, okay. That possibly saved us a lot of time. Imagine if we didn’t have this content–eventually, you would find out if you liked it or not. That saves everyone a lot of angst and us a lot of time. I see it like this–there’s an abundance of opportunities out there. If someone doesn’t like our content…next. And if someone does, great! The content does the selling. There is no convincing. And best of all, the other benefits I mentioned above and that I talk about often–they stay no matter what. So yeah use content as a sales tool, but that’s not all it is.

How does content as a sales tool work if you’re an attorney? You can talk about cases you’ve won. People hear it and then when they need something similar, they’ll reach out.

How does content as a sales tool work if you’re a therapist? You talk about mental health-related to running a business. And then a business owner reaches out to schedule a therapy session. Go check out Psychology Today and all the great content they offer. Each article is written by a therapist that is linked out to their personal profile where someone can book time with them for a session.

You see how that works. Content as a sales tool.

  • You Can’t Always Close the Loop on Content ROI

In this Content Matterz podcast episode, Eric Kasimov talks with GreenPal Co-Founder and CEO Bryan Clayton about how you can’t always close the loop on ROI when it comes to marketing.

Eric asks Bryan this hard-hitting question of “why are you appearing on podcasts?”

As Bryan Clayton states, 99% of the time he is doing this for himself.

He enjoys it more than anyone because as he says, “you are either contracting or expanding, and sharing my philosophy, beliefs, and strategies on podcasts keep me closer to the point of expansion.”

Simply put, it keeps Bryan on his toes.

So when he or anyone for that matter is in an interview, you better be ready, whether the conversation is being recorded or not. To add to this, podcasting (and writing for that matter) is the path to better content–and ultimately to a better business and a better you. Bryan and Eric are advocates of the idea of learning through reading and listening and sharing. And with all of this comes self-accountability.

Eric has a post on the SportsEpreneur content platform on why that content platform even exists in the first place–and as it turns out, it’s self-accountability. Here’s that article: “I Have to Admit, There’s A Lot of Self-Talk In SportsEpreneur Articles”

And as the title of this specific podcast episode clearly states, none of this will give you a clear ROI (return on investment). And thus it’s scary for business owners to think content creation will help their business. But then when you take a step back and think about the things that a business owner (or founder, entrepreneur, professional, leader, aspiring individual) does spend a lot of time on that don’t equate to an obvious return on investment, it becomes clear that the action of content creation starts to make sense.

For example, what’s the ROI on company culture, what’s the ROI on a clean office, what’s the ROI on a fast computer, what’s the ROI on your relationship with your family, what’s the ROI on the book you just read?

Exactly! You don’t know. And that’s okay.

  • Blogging is Not Dead | An Audible Blog

Blogging is Not Dead is an Audible Style Blog Post from Content Matterz.

While a case was just made for starting a podcast in an article published yesterday — blogging is not dead. Far from it. A blog can even be used to create a podcast, like this one! Seriously. This podcast originated from this article. It’s an audible-style blog. You know how some people read the words and others listen to the words on say Amazon Audible? Well, some people might rather listen to your blog, or do both. That’s not to say your blog should only become a podcast where you read it out loud (it can be if you want), but it is an option. And really, your blog could be where you write through your ideas that allow you to speak more clearly and come up with better ideas.

The point is blogging works for those reasons and oh so many more (need more reasons: become a better writer, share industry insights, announce updates at your office, help people better understand how you think, search engine optimization, be a resource, train your employees, hire new employees, talk about your other interests that may be an interest to someone else…to name a few). You should blog. We do. Here are some of our blogs: KazCM Blog | SportsEpreneur Blog.

  • It’s ALL About CONTENT

When it comes to marketing, remember it’s ALL about CONTENT.

Creating content leads to conversations, connections, relationships, and more. It’s why influential individuals and thriving companies focus much of their marketing efforts on creating. Look at Seth Godin, Gary Vaynerchuk, Tim Ferris. Look at Amazon, Spotify, Apple, Netflix. Look at John Deere, Red Bull, Disney, LEGO. Those are extreme examples but they still work for any size business.

Creating isn’t for everyone and that’s okay. As we (and many others) say, you can’t convince the inconvincible. However, if you open your mind to the concept, creating content could be for you. As we’ve seen, content creation is becoming more and more accepted as a way to showcase your knowledge, experiences, expertise, and stories. And we’re all for it.

Eric Kasimov was a featured guest on the Get Influx Podcast hosted by Glenn Boothe. That episode appeared on our Entrepreneur Perspectives podcast. And now we are featuring a highlight of that conversation on a new episode of Content Matterz. And it’s ALL about Content!

In this podcast episode, Glenn and Eric discuss why creating content is in favor and ways to think through it. Eric and Glenn walk the walk as they both spend much of their marketing efforts on creating and storytelling. This includes podcasting, writing, video storytelling, and social media.

Topics covered in this episode include: why you should start your own platform, a change in mindset, paying attention, being genuine in your marketing, and more.

    Get out there and create.

  • Content Impact

When you get comfortable sharing content, you’ll become aware of the content impact.

We preach it often–creating content has many benefits. One of those benefits is the impact creating content can have on yourself and others. This is a lesson that struck Linh Podetti on her content creation journey. It’s not immediate and it’s not always obvious. But when she reflects on the impact content has on her and others, she knows the good her content creation is providing.

Linh was a featured guest on our Entrepreneur Perspectives podcast. And now we are featuring a highlight of that conversation on a new episode of Content Matterz.

When we have these long-form conversations we see there are many parts of the conversation we can pull out and repurpose with a focus that allows you to better understand why we think the way we do and more importantly to help you on your own content creation path.

In this Content Matterz episode, Linh and Eric Kasimov discuss through their own experiences that creating content can make a positive impact on your own life and possibly the lives of others.

Topics covered in this episode: the confidence that creating content brings, getting over the initial hump of creating content, the impact that your story can have on others, pushing through your own doubts, and more.

  • Seeking Truth Through Content Creation

The “Truth Seekers” are seeking truth through content creation.

Creating content in a genuine way leads to truth, understanding, and overall good quality content–for all involved. It’s why influential individuals like Joshua Greco started a podcast.

It drives us a little crazy when the motivation behind someone considering starting a podcast or creating content is to drive an immediate return on investment. There are so many things to think through when it comes to content creation so we are constantly exploring this topic. And that’s why we seek out leaders of entrepreneurs to chat with on this topic. It’s a way for us to seek more truth on why founders, business owners, entrepreneurs, leaders, professionals, and those with aspirations to consider this path of content creation.

Joshua Grecco was a featured guest on our Entrepreneur Perspectives podcast. And now we are featuring a highlight of that conversation on a new episode of Content Matterz.

In this Content Matterz episode, Joshua and Eric Kasimov discuss why Josh started a podcast and how creating content can be a positive sum for all those involved. That includes the hosts, the guests, the listeners, and anyone that comes across the podcast or the content.

Topics covered in this episode include: having engaging conversations, being present in the moment, leveraging a podcast appearance, the benefits of creating content, YouTube, enjoying what you do, and more.

  • Content Brings People Together

No matter what we’re going through, thankfully, content brings people together.

Entrepreneurs are all dealing with something. Either directly or indirectly. It may be business-related, it may be something happening today, or it may have something to do with health. In my family, my wife and two daughters have been diagnosed with Celiac disease. As we’ve attempted to learn more about Celiac, we’ve come across some amazing people.

Mike Frolichstein and Cam Weiner from the Celiac Project Podcast are two of those people. This is a highlight episode from the full-length episode where Mike and Cam chat with Eric Kasimov about how our stories as business leaders, entrepreneurs, founders, professionals, and family members can bring us together through genuine content. You can listen to the full episode on Entrepreneur Perspectives.

Michael and Cam talk all things Gluten Free on the Celiac Project Podcast. You can learn about them at celiacproject.com, you can find their podcast on all podcast players, and you can watch the Celiac Project Documentary on Amazon Prime Video. We hope this content brings us all together even more–and a big thanks to the Celiac community leaders, Mike Frolichstein and Cam Weiner.
