  • Daniel's Four Beasts | Daniel 7:1-14

Daniel 7 presents a prophetic vision where Daniel sees four beasts emerging from the turbulent "sea," symbolizing Gentile nations influenced by God's scattered people, Israel. These beasts represent successive world empires: Babylon (lion with eagle's wings), Persia (bear), Greece under Alexander (leopard), and Rome (a terrifying, undefined beast with ten horns), with the last featuring a blasphemous "little horn." The vision transitions to a divine scene where the "Ancient of Days" (God) presides over a heavenly court, and the beasts' dominion is stripped away. The "Son of Man," a messianic figure, is then given everlasting dominion over all, symbolizing Christ's ascension and reign. This vision underscores the temporary nature of earthly powers and the eternal sovereignty of God's kingdom, encouraging believers to remain faithful amidst persecution, as their steadfastness contributes to the manifestation of Christ's rule on earth.

  • Christendom and Christmas (with: Jared Lovell)

Symbols are incredibly powerful. And there are few symbols more potent in demonstrating the continued existence of Christendom in the public mind than the widespread celebration of Christmas.

This is why the often lampooned "war on Christmas" creates such a visceral reaction in many people. It IS our holiday. We love it. And despise those who would attack it or subvert it.

To discuss what Christmas means in 2024 America, we are joined by Mr. Jared Lovell of The North American Anglican.

  • 2024 LOLCOW of the Year: James Lindsay (with: Patrick Casey @restoreorderusa)

We are proud to announce the very first recipient of Contra Mundum's annual LOLCOW of the Year award, Mr. James Lindsay.

Mr. Lindsay set himself apart from a very large field of finalists for this award with his recent attacks on the so-called "Woke Right." What really won it for him this year, more than anything else, was defining that term in such a way that the Founding Fathers, Protestant Reformers, and any and all figures in the history of Christendom who used political power for righteous ends meet the definition of "Woke Right." His bizarre, unhinged conspiracy theories have really been the icing on the lolcow cake.

We discuss this all with Patrick Casey of Chronicles Magazine.

  • Assad falls; TURBO AMERICA rolls on?

Over the weekend, the Syrian government collapsed as the civil war rapidly restarted, the Turks and Israelis invaded, and Russians were either unwilling or unable to render aid. As a result Bashar al-Assad has fled to Moscow and militant jihadists sponsored by the American Regime and its satellites in the region.

After witnessing power be flexed to secure domination over Europe and now oust an unaligned regime in Syria, is it possible the decline of the Regime has been overstated? Is Turbo America just going to keep rolling on, even despite the election of a man they regard as their enemy?

We discuss with the official geopolitical analyst of Contra Mundum, Mr. Ron Dodson.

  • Why "The Woke Right" is the STUPIDEST term

Recently bad actors online have trotted out the phrase "the woke right" to characterize paleoconservatives and the postliberal right as the mirror image of the very worst of the left.

Why is this terminology so stupid? What is going on with these rhetorical games?

We discuss with renowned author and Claremont Senior Fellow, Jeremy Carl.

  • Death and Resurrection | Daniel 6:1-28

The narrative of Daniel in the lion's den, while famous as a Sunday School tale, holds profound theological significance within the Book of Daniel. It encapsulates themes of death and resurrection, not only pertaining to Daniel but also symbolizing the broader experience of God's people under foreign rule. When Darius ascends as ruler of the oikoumene, he appoints satraps to govern his provinces, among whom Daniel excels. However, jealous officials conspire against him, manipulating Darius into signing a decree that bans prayer to any deity or man except Darius himself for 30 days, under penalty of being thrown into the lions' den. This plot not only targets Daniel but subtly aims at elevating Darius to a divine status, contrasting with Nebuchadnezzar's earlier lesson in humility.

Despite the decree, Daniel chooses to pray openly towards Jerusalem, not worshipping the city but interceding for its restoration and the end of the Babylonian exile. Caught by the satraps, Daniel is sentenced to the lion's den, but Darius, showing a stark contrast to Nebuchadnezzar's pride, trusts in Daniel's God to save him. The narrative unfolds with a miraculous intervention where God's angel seals the lions' mouths, sparing Daniel. The next morning, Darius, having fasted in concern, joyously finds Daniel unharmed, leading to the execution of Daniel's accusers by the same lions. Darius then issues a new decree, acknowledging the supremacy of Daniel's God, which signifies a transformation in his rule from one of human pride to divine recognition. This story not only portrays Daniel's personal faith and deliverance but also serves as a metaphor for the resilience and ultimate vindication of the faithful amidst persecution, paralleling the Christian narrative of suffering, resurrection, and the divine establishment of God's kingdom.

  • The World is NOT Just Stuff (with Brian Sauvé & Ben Garrett)

We do not live in a materialist world, where we are merely atoms and molecules, particles and waves. The world that God has made is not just stuff. There is a world beyond what our eyes can see, and that is a world He has described in His Word.

Far too many Christians reared in this materialist world end up as functional Deists. But we are Christians, not Deists. God is active, even supernaturally in His creation.

We discuss these things with the hosts of Haunted Cosmos.

    What exactly is an American?

Does existing on Magic Dirt make someone an American?

Or do you have to be born to or become part of a particular people?

  • Weighed And Found Wanting | Daniel 5:1-31

The narrative in Daniel 5 portrays the end of the Babylonian Empire through the lens of a divine judgment. King Belshazzar, amidst a Persian siege, hosts a feast not out of despair but in a desperate, hopeful appeal to multiple gods, including the God of Israel, by using sacred vessels from Jerusalem's temple. This act of syncretism is seen as a counterfeit sacrament, challenging the true God amidst a spiritual battle where only He responds by inscribing a judgment on the wall: "Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin," interpreted by Daniel to signify the end of Belshazzar's reign due to his failure to acknowledge God's sovereignty. The story concludes with Belshazzar's death and the rise of Darius the Mede, underscoring the lesson that divine rule over the world is exclusive, and those in power must submit to God alone or face judgment. The passage parallels contemporary issues of secularism and idolatry, urging a return to exclusive worship of Jesus Christ as the true sovereign.
