In this Conversation About Power, I'm talking about power imbalances, in the light of what I've seen happening in Amsterdam over the last week.
On the 7th of November, a football match took place in Amsterdam between Ajax (the local team) and Maccabi Tel Aviv. There were scuffles and problems before the match, including a Palestinian flag being removed. The match itself was quiet, but afterwards problems broke out between locals and the Israeli fans. Fans on both sides experienced violence and hate speech and random people on the street were asked to prove they weren’t Jewish.
It’s particularly the political reactions after the match that have caused me to record this episode.
Now this episode might not win me any friends, but I've thought a lot about this subject, and I'm sharing my thoughts about this with you. I also suggest what we can learn from it as people and as business owners. What choices do we have if we feel like we're not being listened to? If we feel like we’re being silenced?

In this Conversation About Power, I'm reflecting on what's just happened in the US, on the elections, and what we can do about it.
How do we hold on to our feelings of power when there's been such a massive power shift?
How do we find peace and what can we learn from this?

Today’s Conversation About Power is a meeting of two language-nerd minds.
I'm talking to Kasia Krasucka, who started off as a language teacher and has since moved into coaching.
Now, she did this for very much the same reasons as I did. It's because we both realized that sometimes people find it hard to do what they really want to do. And that there can be all kinds of things holding you back. So, we have both spent yaers working out how to help people get past this.
She’s made this change in her way. I've done it in mine. As a result, we do a lot of nerding around on this episode about 1. Why it is that people can find things so hard to change? 2 What you can do about this?
Kasia also talks about power leaks. If you've ever experienced feeling great one moment and just a minute later, not daring to do something anymore, that's because you've leaked some of your power somewhere.
Find out all about these power leaks in today’s episode.

In this Conversation About Power, I'm talking to Zen Benefiel.
Zen Benefiel is the very first man that I've interviewed on the podcast, which is exciting of itself, but we're also going to be hearing about his spiritual experiences that started at a very young age. And about how society reacted to these experiences, as well as how he found his way through those experiences, trying to stay himself while the rest of the world around him was doubting his sanity.
This is an interesting episode. It connects dots. It joins up all kinds of random subjects, and it's centrally about the question, how do I stay myself when everybody else around me is questioning if what I'm saying is true?

In today's Conversation About Power, I'm talking to Yvette Bethel.
Yvette has a wonderful gift for connecting dots. She can explain concepts and join them all together in a way that makes you really think about things in a new way. And she's doing that with us today talking about power.
Now we've already been exploring a lot of the things that she's been talking about in previous episodes, but Yvette does an amazing job of connecting these dots together, bringing all of this together and explaining what power is all about, both internally and externally.
This is a great episode to bring some of these ideas together and just to listen to and question some of your own ideas. Have fun.

In this Conversation About Power, I'm reflecting on the last set of episodes and why, sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is to change your mind.
Episode 42 could turn out to be the answer to life, the universe and everything, but you'll have to listen to find out (if you’ve never heard of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, hey, you’re still welcome to listen).

In today's Conversation About Power, I'm talking to Shirley Buck.
Shirley is a delightful person to talk to.
She can be light hearted and can talk about all kinds of things.
It's so easy to talk to her, and THAT is pretty amazing, if you think about the start that she got in life, which was really, really tough.
She's developed her own way of dealing with trauma, which isn't just about coping, isn't just about dealing, but it's also about overcoming and about enjoying life (which is why it's so important to her when she gets up in the morning to go and feed the birds and talk to the squirrels).
It's the little things that make her life absolutely enjoyable.
This is a really inspiring conversation.
There's not many of us who've been through the things that Shirley has been through.
She's come out the other side, and she's a delight to be around. You're really going to enjoy listening to her.

Sometimes people do things that we believe are impossible. Today’s guest is one of those people.
In this Conversation About Power, I'm talking to Karen Vincent. Karen is a health coach. She became one, because she's come back from the other side of debilitating long COVID.
We're talking sitting in a wheelchair, unable-to-work debilitating. And she's sharing her journey with us today.
We talk about the physical and psychological sides to her journey, and how it's possible that she can now do pretty much everything she used to do. And she tells us why she now sees her long COVID as a blessing.

I came across Elisabeth Engel at a distance four or five years ago. And I remember thinking, “Wow, this woman really goes for it in her business.”
But I actually only spoke to her one to one for the first time very recently. It was a complete pleasure.
I'm sure you're going to enjoy this episode of Conversations About Power, where we're exploring Elisabeth’s story, how she went to a really pretty dark, dark place, how she came back from that, and the process that she went through and talks about today - painting a blank canvas.
It's a beautiful, inspiring story. And I'm sure you're going to love this episode, just as much as I did.

In today's Conversation About Power, we are exploring a taboo for many women, and that is expressing your anger.
I'm exploring this with Esther de Charon de Saint Germain, who is a branding expert. She believes that we need to show up with all of us to really make the most of our marketing and our business.
So, during this conversation we get into this taboo subject, anger. We talk about the good things anger brings like how it can propel you forwards and also the ways anger can hold you back.
If you have any problems with expressing your anger at all, and let's face it, most of us do, this is going to be an illuminating episode.
