In this episode I got to catch up with Jasmine Allen, one of our Ellis Fund parents. Her daughter, Amira is very shy about speaking in public, but she does join our conversation occasionally.
Before we begin, we would like to set the stage for our listeners to understand parents of a child diagnosed with cancer are not forewarned or prepared to face the upheaval of their lives. These parents are living a normal life, then one day they make the usual trip to the grocery store and that evening find themselves making decisions to fight for their child's life. Parents are thrown into a whirlwind of hospital rooms and medical procedures while trying to comprehend the medical terminology swirling around them.
This is how Jasmine’s routine got interrupted on New Year's eve of 2012.
