Town of Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation Director Atuya Cornwell spoke with 97.9 The Hill's Andrew Stuckey on Thursday, July 6th. He discussed July being Parks and Rec month both nationally and locally here in Chapel Hill. He also discussed some of his favorite parks in Chapel Hill, and talked about the logistics of the Chelsea vs. Wrexham soccer match coming to Keenan Stadium next month.

She discussed a recent meeting of the Partnership to End Homelessness where they broke down the numbers from their January count of unsheltered people in Orange County. She also talked about the UPROAR Arts Festival that will bring art installments to several locations throughout Orange County during July and August. She also recommended some Orange County Parks for summer enjoyment.

Carrboro Mayor Damon Seils spoke with 97.9 The Hill's Andrew Stuckey on Friday, June 30th. He discussed some housing developments approved at the most recent town council meeting, as well as some agenda items that were not discussed by the Council, but are available for the public. He also talked about the conclusion of Pride Month in Carrborro, and a full slate of celebratory activities on the 4th of July.

She discussed a couple of major grants the town got--one for a feasibility study for the town's "everywhere to everywhere" greenway expansion, and another grant for the town's transportation plan. She also talked about a recent meeting of the Metro Mayors in which they discussed North Carolina's growth with state leaders.  She also previewed some upcoming events, including Fourth of July festivities.

She discussed a recent meeting with NCDOT, and how the state agency does not appear to be receptive to changing their reimagining of the 15-501 and I-40 interchange. She also discussed Community Climate Action Grant Applications, which are now open for Orange County. She also discussed an alternate way to obtain a passport in Orange County, by going through the Register's Office.

Hillsborough Mayor Jenn Weaver spoke with 97.9 The Hill's Andrew Stuckey on Tuesday, June 27th. She discussed the town board of commissioners passing a strategic plan for to help guide town decisions for the next 3 years. She also talked about the timeline for the NC86 bridge repair, as the bridge currently remains closed.  She also mentioned  recent engineering awards that the West Fork Eno Reservoir won, as well as Last Friday Art Walk and other upcoming Hillsborough events.

Carrboro Mayor Damon Seils spoke with 97.9 The Hill's Andrew Stuckey on Friday, June 23rd.  They discussed a pride event he was attending Friday afternoon, the passage of the Carrboro Town Budget, and what the recent Greenways grant money awarded to Chapel Hill could mean for the community. He also previewed some upcoming weekend events in the Carrboro community.
