Cornerstone Community Church Vodcast

As we participate in ‘Come to the Table’ as a church, and as we invite friends and loved ones to this outreach, it’s a great reminder that 2,000 years ago, three groups of people were also invited to witness the birth of Jesus Christ. Each found their way to Jesus in very contrasting ways, and their responses to the invitation to come to His table were also very different. The invitation to come to the Lord’s table continues to be extended to all people, and the scenario at His birth is being repeated every day. May we find ourselves amongst those who respond to the Lord’s invitation and find ourselves at His table.

#365 is Cornerstone’s annual Bible-reading programme. A regular lifestyle of reading the Scriptures is essential for our Christian walk. In fact, an average of four chapters a day, and we'll be able to finish reading the Bible cover-to-cover in a year. This isn’t just a matter of discipline, but a deeply life-giving practice. This weekend, I want to share with you a sample of the things that the Lord quickened to me during the month of November that came from following my Bible-reading plan. From Obed-Edom to King Solomon, from the controversy that Peter stirred, to God speaking to me about dieting – all these are some of the things that have come out from #365 in November.

One of the things I've rediscovered during this COVID lockdown is my love for the game of chess. I played quite a bit of chess in the university and for a short time, I was the chess convenor for my faculty. Then I stopped playing – totally neglected the game. But during the confinement, I picked it up again and I've been playing against the computer, with friends, trying to learn new moves, watching grandmasters play, just trying to improve my game. I've discovered that chess is probably the game that teaches you most about life and I'd like to share some of the amazing things I've learned and how they apply to us practically.

Each time you try to witness to someone or share the Gospel, you must begin on the premise that the person you're speaking to is spiritually-blinded. According to Scripture, the god of this age has blinded the eyes of those who do not believe. Understand the enemy will do all he can to shield and distract the person from the light of the Gospel. That is their number 1 assignment, which is why prayer is so necessary in the process of salvation. Discover how the veil can be removed.
