The word ‘Father’ conjures up many thoughts and feelings in all of us – some good and some not. ‘Daddy’ is the deep cry of every child for safety and significance. God is our Father and He wants to draw us close to Him to first make us feel safe and then go and be significant. This father-child relationship is the bedrock of Christianity.

Some of the most amazing occurrences in the Bible were only possible because of the mistakes that someone had made. The rescue of Rahab and her subsequent role in God’s plan of salvation for all mankind is a case in point. Had Israel not failed to enter the Promised Land some 38 years before, Rahab would not have chanced upon the two spies that Joshua sent. So was the failure of Israel 38 years prior a mistake?

When Jesus walked on the earth, His ministry included preaching, teaching, healing the sick, and casting out demons. We see the first three ministries featured prominently in the Church today, but we’ve somehow relegated the ministry of deliverance to a handful of specialists. But that’s not what my Bible instructs. My Bible tells me that one of the signs Jesus said would accompany those who believe in Him is, they will cast out demons. I’m convinced we must all be trained in the ministry of deliverance, because there’s a coming spike in demonic activity. We’re seeing it all around us. People are getting more and more violent, hostile, lawless, and immoral, and the truth is – much of this is demonically inspired. We’re being pushed to a place where if we don’t press in for the supernatural power of God, we’re going to be irrelevant. A much-needed message in the Church today.

In many churches today, we preach the Father, the Son and the Holy Scriptures and that is just not right. It is not the full Gospel. Scripture tells us that the letter kills, but it is the Spirit who gives life. We need both the Word and the Spirit. I don’t want to be in a church that restricts what the Holy Spirit can or cannot do. And as long as I’m the pastor of this church, we will never relegate the Holy Ghost to some little corner in the church and when we need Him, we will call Him. No sir. He will always be in the forefront of what we do. On this Pentecost Weekend, let us honour the 3rd Person of the Godhead – The Blessed Holy Spirit!

The question we're often confronted with is, "How do we become a powerful church? How can our church become a city set on a hill?" I think the answer to that is in our consecration. We've got to get rid of all those accursed things in our minds, in our hearts, in our lives and in our homes. We've got to sanctify ourselves.

What's draining the power of God in our lives? Compromise. Worldliness. Sin. Carnality. Is it any wonder why the Church is so powerless today when we spend more time on Netflix or YouTube than we do in prayer? A powerful message that will bring about a much-needed alignment.

One of the most malignant influence in the Church today is something called the lying spirit. It has caused untold damage to the Body of Christ, and destroyed marriages. It has split churches, separated the best of friends, and even destroyed mighty nations and caused many saints to turn away from God. It’s time for the Church to know the truth about these spirits in order that we might expose them and press onward to victory.
