At the beginning of the year, the Australian Government introduced measures to combat the growing spread of COVID-19 in China for Aussie’s visiting the country.

Naturally the federal opposition party has been somewhat critical of the measures… they have to to stay relevant to their conservative voter base, but the Chief Medical Officer has come out again the government’s preventative measures.

Those planning a trip to China are mostly supportive of the Albanese Government’s announcement.

16 days into a new year and already we have another variant of the coronavirus out there. Very important to note at this point, there’s no evidence that the XBB.1.5 Omicron variant will have a more serious effect on the public than previous versions.

Research and assessment takes time and scientists are working on it.

The mental health of Australian’s was dealt a blow last week with the Federal Government of Australia cutting subsidised services to psychologists and other mental health services.

The Federal Health Minister Mark Butler made the announcement last month and it remains to be seen as to where the Albanese government will proceed, but the Health Minister has promised to meet and hear from professionals in the field to try and work out a way forward.

Let’s hope those needing help now don’t fall through the cracks.
