The New South Wales government may actually be taking their lockdown seriously now as restrictions were tightened on Friday and further mask rules taking effect from tomorrow (Tuesday 13 July 2021). Sunday the NSW Premier announced there could be as many as 100 new cases today. Sadly, an elderly woman from New South Wales died from COVID-19. As numbers continue to frustrate hardworking contact tracers and health officials in NSW, news has arisen that nearly 200 students at an exclusive Catholic school in Sydney were given the Pfizer vaccine by mistake.
South of NSW, restrictions have eased in Victoria with the whole state on the same level of lessened restrictions now. But with school holidays now over, the Andrews government is concerned for families returning home from COVID areas of concern.

This week on IN FOCUS, I follow up on a report from last week and the petition in Australia to halt the Federal Government’s Cashless Debit Card (Indue card) which can be found at https://www.aph.gov.au/e-petitions/petition/EN2799 but please note it is only available to Australian residents and the petition closes on 21 July 2021 at 11:59pm Australian Eastern Standard Time. As most things, there’s more to the story like the shareholders in Indue who stand to profit from those less fortunate.

#ScottyFromMarketing #ScottyTheAnnouncer whatever you wish to call Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, I’m dissecting his (yet another) announcement for a plan – I think it might be a plan for a plan, that he delivered last Friday in relation to the vaccine rollout and his #ScottFromMedicalSchool announcement that those under 40 in Australia could get the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine if they wanted to. This is despite the advice from his government’s own experts. Who needs experts when we have Scott Morrison! Yes… I’m not a happy chappy!
Also I’m not happy to hear that around half of those who have entered/returned to Australia since the beginning of the pandemic, have been in quarantine. It’s like Canberra isn’t taking the situation seriously.
New anti-wage theft laws introduced in Victoria.
COVID-19 info from right around Australia, well most of it.
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has a very quick wit.
On IN FOCUS, it’s more than ten years since the news of the phone hacking scandal in the UK. I’m listening to the British Scandal podcast which is looking at that now. The incredible shrinking regional news operations in Australia.

Almost one week into the two-week COVID-19 lockdown in New South Wales. But that’s not the biggest story this week. It’s the Prime Minister acting like he has a degree in science and medicine. It’s dividing medical experts and state governments.
The Federal Liberal Party’s coalition partner, The Nationals, have reshuffled their frontbench, once again promoting the woman at the centre if the Sports Rorts scandal, Bridget MacKenzie. Two versions of the facts in the Ben Roberts-Smith defamation trial. Neither show the Australian Special Forces in a good light. Trump has not and will never change. While stopping short of announcing that he’d contest the 2024 American election, the Orange Idiot did insist his job was stolen with some of the thousands attending his first rally, claiming he was still the President. TikTok and WeChat get a reprieve from the Biden administration, at least for the time being. We don’t trust Instagram Influencers according to the 2021 Australia Talks Survey, but advertisers are still using influencers to promote their goods and services. On this new edition of Cory Talks… New South Wales finally admits a lockdown is required, although the message from New South Wales Health and the government is not as clear as other jurisdictions. https://nsw.gov.au/covid-19 The Northern Territory announced today a snap 48-hour lockdown in three areas of the Top End. Victoria cautiously watching NSW but is not currently re-evaluating the already eased restrictions in the garden state. The apparent suicide death of anti-virus guru, John McAfee. The vipers from the Murdochracy, Murdoch Propaganda Unit, News Corp, whatever you want to call them, will be out for the manufactured blood of Victorian Premier, Dan Andrews who returns to work on Monday after that nasty fall earlier in the year. The likes of Andrew Bolt, Rachael Baxendale, Paul Murray, Sophie Elsworth, Neil Mitchell, Leigh Sales, Tom Elliot and Peta Credlin have been sharpening their claws for their meritless and relentless attacks on the Victorian Premier, together with their collective “gotcha moment” attempts and “what if’s”.
