Counterflow with Buck Johnson

My guest this week is John Baeza, and we discuss the three years he attempted to be a "libertarian cop". John is a retired member of the NYPD, where he was a detective who was assigned to the Manhattan Special Victims Squad. There he investigated and reviewed approximately 1,000 cases of rape, serial rape, sexual homicide, felony sexual assault, and child abuse cases. During his tenure there, he started realizing the pain and suffering caused by the war on drugs. He was reading libertarian books, and after that, there was no turning back for him. John became a libertarian. After his career with NYPD was over with, he became a Deputy down in Florida where he made a promise to himself: from that point on, he would be a libertarian cop. In this episode we talk about how that went for him and how it ended. John was also the head of security for the Ron Paul campaign! I, of course, had to ask him all about that as well.

My guest this week is the great Lew Rockwell. Lew is the founder and chairman of the Mises Institute, as well as the creator of the great news site, LewRockwell.com. We discuss a variety of topics including Lew's new book, "Against The Left: A Rothbardian Libertarianism".

Lew is a great representative of the hardcore Rothbardian brand of libertarianism, and we apply it to immigration, egalitarianism, and the dangers posed by the left, including the so-called "left libertarians". My guest this week is the president of the Mises Institute, Jeff Deist. Jeff and I discuss the themes within his recent article, "Politics Drops Its Pretenses" and his recent speech on how "meaningless words" create a narrative. Is "democracy" really a good thing? Do those who use it even know what it means? Are we best off when 51% of the voters force their will upon the other 49%? What if secession and decentralization is the best way moving forward? We will hear the establishment tell us that "politics and voting will bring us together" and "democracy in action is a good thing". Why does it seem, then, that the further entrenched government becomes in our lives, the more divisive and at odds the country becomes?

My guest today is Joshua Smith. He is running for Chairman of the Libertarian National Committee. Josh is on the show to explain exactly why he is the guy for the job. The current chairman has embarrassed the Libertarian Party by demonizing many of the best libertarians out there. Up until I met Josh and interviewed him, I wasn't a renewing member of the Libertarian Party. However, his message inspired me to rejoin and fight to get him elected and the current chairman ousted. Josh is antiwar and anti Federal Reserve and those are a must, in my opinion, if you want to represent libertarianism.

Now Tulsi is the only voice in the primaries speaking out against these forever wars that the US remains in and she is under fire from conventional pro-war mouthpieces. Have the neocons moved into the Democratic Party? Why are Democrats "anti-Trump" more than they are "anti-war"? Are most people tired of the claims from Hillary Clinton that everyone she hates is a Russian Agent? Let's hope so.
