S2 E6: Flatwoods Monster

We discuss, owls in relation to strange encounters, Project Blue Beam, and one of the most unbelievable beings to date, The Flatwoods Monster. The Flatwoods Monster, also known as the Green Monster☺, was spotted in West Virginia, amidst a UFO flap in 1952. Witnesses watched as a strange ball of light fell from the sky, in a rather peculiar manor. Upon finding the object, they were confronted by a malicious mist, and an enormous, enigmatic entity. Over the next 24 hours, several similar sightings were reported from nearby towns, as well as a slew of UFO sightings across the region. While no known photos exist, the legend of the Flatwoods Monster continues to persist. So join us, Cryptid Counters, as we light up with the Green Monster.

  S2 E5: Organism 46-b

This time, on Counting Cryptids:

We discuss secret alien bases, movie plots, and what could be the most horrific "discovery" ever, Organism 46-b. The story of 46-b, better known as the Vostok Monster, was born from an actual scientific expedition, in which researches drilled into the ice in Antarctica for decades to access a sub-glacial lake, that had been covered in ice for an estimated 20 million years. Upon examination of the lake, the crew was met by something horrible; a 33 foot long, 14 tentacled, squid-thing, that was out for blood. The creature allegedly killed several members of the crew before finally being captured, and sent off to the Russian government to be examined, and potentially weaponized. While contradictory information, lack of evidence, and bad science point to a hoax; the unnamed crew members, government conspiracies, "missing scientist", and obfuscated information lend credence to this creepy creatures continued existence. So join us, Cryptid Counters, as we dive into what we know about lake Vostok.

  S2 E4: Montauk Monster

This time, on Counting Cryptids:

We discuss crazy dreams, dead raccoons, and conspiracy theories, as we attempt to unpack the story of the Montauk Monster. In the summer of 2008, just outside of Montauk, New York, a creature washed ashore resembling a raccoon, or a pig, or a turtle, or a dog, or an alien, depending on who you ask. The naked creature was said to be slightly larger than a cat and had one main characteristic that ruled out the above suggestions, a beak. Before authorities arrived on the scene, a man walking the beach scooped up the creature, mumbling something about mounting it on his wall, and disappeared. With mystery surrounding the origins of this creature, the whereabouts of its body, and the near by Animal Disease Center, this episode may be our deepest dive yet! So join us, Cryptid Counters, as we slur our way though another episode of the infamous internet program, Counting Cryptids.

OOPS! - Jacob read about a second body being found on Plum Island, while searching for the autopsy report from the first body Connor mentioned. The second body (of the woman) was on a different Plum Island, located nearby in Massachusetts.

  S2 E3: Wampus Beast

This time, on Counting Cryptids:

We discuss our thoughts on therianthropy, how little we (personally) know about native wildlife, and a half-woman, half-cougar, hybrid known as the Wampus Beast. The Wampus Beast, or Wampus Cat, is, by some accounts, an 800 pound cat patrolling the Appalachian mountains, searching for a campfire to ambush. Others claim it has native origins, telling of a woman cursed for following the men into the forest, the cougar jokes could nearly write themselves! But with little to no (and really I mean no) actual evidence being presented, other than the tenuous eyewitness accounts of a man with a television program, could this all be fabricated? Is there actually a Native American werecat hunting men by the light of their own campfires? is it a localized version of the boogeyman? Or, better yet, simply an excuse to get wasted with the boys?   S2 E2: Thylacine

This time, on Counting Cryptids:

We discuss the reintroduction of extinct species, strangers marital problems, and what is arguably the most bad ass looking creatures to have gone extinct in the last century, the thylacine. The thylacine, better known as the Tasmanian Tiger, was officially declared extinct in 1936 when the last known specimen (who's name was probably not Benjamin) died in captivity at the Hobart zoo. Over the last 83 years, hundreds, if not thousands, of individuals have reportedly witnessed this romanticized marsupial, yet no irrefutable evidence has been presented to the masses. Could it be as simple as an obscured fox, a mangy Kangaroo, or an overly large quoll? We're not so sure..   S2 E1: Boo Hag

This time, on Counting Cryptids:

We kick off the second season with some new tunes, Jacob's plumbing adventures, and a listener suggested topic; the Boo Hag. A Southern take on the standard hag recipe: a dash of soul sucking, a pinch of skin stealing, a hint of women's suffrage, and a whole lot of riding. Jokes aside, if a Boo Hag takes a liking to you, it will follow you home and feed on your "life force" in your sleep. Some unlucky individuals have even, allegedly, ended up marrying a Boo Hag. Not sure what to make of this? Us either, but this one is a little witchy, so be sure to keep a broom handy.

This time, on Counting Cryptids:

We discuss a figure so fantastic, it has taken over an entire season (winter. Not like a season of the show). The man with the northern most pole. The Crimson Crusader himself. Santa Claus! Jolly, old, Saint Nick began his good deeds in the 4th century, helping those in need, often financially. But as time passed, he was eventually Co-opted by the Coca-Cola Soft Drink company in the 40s. They rebuilt him. They have the technology. They made him better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster. Will Santa triumph as this seasons supreme entity? Join us, Cryptid Counters, as we press the limits of what can be considered Cryptozoological research for the last time this year.

We start our Holiday mini series, with the crack of a whip (well.. a stick, but that isn't a saying). Our first "Christmas Cryptid" is a half-goat, half-demon, creature, known as Krampus. Krampus serves as, basically the inverse of Santa: visiting, and punishing all of the bad children, either by physical abuse, eating them, or just dragging them to hell. Happy Holidays!
