The holidays are upon us, but it's going to be an apocolyptic Christmas if our comic pull has anything to say about it! From another King in Black tie-in, to some "the world has basically ended, what's going on now?" books, to Santa dealing with some really heavy loss, it's maybe the end of the world... but isn't that kind of appropriate in 2020? Merry Christmas, folks!
'Tis the season to be creeped out by haunted houses, apparently! Between a no-end-home experience in Home Sick Pilots #1, to the mysterious mind-games (pun intended) from Cullen Bunn's one-shot 'Piecemeal,' there's a whole lot of horror going on. And, as always, we are more than here for it.
Jeez Louise, talk about a hefty week! Two new crossovers began this week - one that seems like it could be "the big one," and one that's... a little more generic. Plus, an excellent F4 one-shot, the start of Batman/Catwoman, and some cool new indie titles. Hope you're ready for a heavy read list!
Talk about some eccentric titles this week! Creepy sea stories, political intrigue, and paranoia on the farm - get ready to have uneasy dreams with these cool new books. Plus, we discuss the excellent new installment of Marvel Voices.
Some excellent books this week from publishers we don't normally get to talk about! The indies are teaching us all sorts of cool stuff, like how to be a parent AND be haunted, how the upper elite REALLY live, and how absolutely insane the 80's really were. Ah, adventures and then some.
So, uh, if you're not a fan of the f-word, this is probably not the review for you - it's pretty hard to avoid when it's in the title of the book! But if you can look past that, you'll find an excellent horror graphic novel that subverts standard tropes and holds some of the best artwork Erica Henderson has ever produced. I mean, who doesn't love a 'dude in distress,' amiright?
Well heck, there were a TON of new comics this week! We finally got our hands on the much hyped new Cates title, 'Crossover,' and the hilarious new Priest title 'John Walker: US Agent.' There's so many books, we couldn't even cover everything, and honestly, this much distraction was exactly what we needed from a stressful week. Here's to new beginnings!
It's Halloween, and honestly our reviews this week are a little spooky. There's one shining star in the bunch, but a lot of this week had titles that couldn't quite get past the finish line... maybe we're just grumpy from Mercury in retrograde.
Man, this was a powerful week for books! We get more from the excellent White Knight Batman universe, a filled in plot hole from Dark Knights Metal, and a couple new titles with very cool, very different vibes. Oh, and we try to figure out who damaged the poor psyche of Peter Tomasi. I mean... really, man. Who hurt you?
WOWZER that's a lot of heckin' books! And we don't even cover everything that came out this week! Some cool new stuff, including the new Rorschach from Tom King, and Kieron Gillen taking on Marvel's first foray into Warhammer 40K, and you've got a week primed for a visit to your LCS. Oh, and what's the deal with superhero costumes anyway?
