For the 51st episode of the Healthcare IT Podcast, we’re talking about the COVID-19 Vaccine.  Obviously, being a healthcare IT publication, we’re not going to dive into any of the clinical details of the vaccine.  Instead, we’ll focus on the areas of healthcare IT and healthcare marketing that are impacted by the vaccine.

To open this episode, we dive into how health IT systems are going to track the COVID-19 vaccine.  We talk about topics like patient identification and healthcare interoperability when it relates to sharing information on who has gotten the COVID-19 vaccine.  Plus, we dive into the health IT communication systems that will be needed to let patients know when the COVID-19 is available.  We also talk about some of the ways IT solutions can be used to predict how much vaccine is needed in a given area.

Then, we shift gears a little and talk about the challenge of marketing the COVID-19 vaccine.  In this case, it’s not about creating demand for the vaccine which no doubt is already high.  Instead, we talk about what’s going to be needed from healthcare marketers to ensure that patients are getting the messaging needed so they trust the vaccine.  That’s going to be a challenge.  We even include a reference to Elvis that many will enjoy.
