The Movie: 101 Dalmatians
Have we seen it before? Of course!
It's Ian's all-time favorite Disney animated film. Will it still be after we're done? We look at inheritance, the fad of purebreed buying, and the difference between good smoke and bad smoke. Also Joshua ponders the scarcity of cake in the English countryside.
The movie: High Noon
Have we seen it before? Nope.
We question John Wayne's taste and Gary Cooper's decision making. Also, we try to figure out who is getting blacklisted. It's probably us.
We really wanted to watch "Pink Flamingos", but turns out the streaming world has a gaping hole in it. So we had to settle for the next best thing: the haunted Don Knotts flick, "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken". You probably have questions. So do we.
We watch the kung fu classic "Enter the Dragon" and marvel at Bruce Lee's martial prowess and good looks. Does this deserve all the praise? Or is it just another outdated relic? We also question the use of multiple blades and red paint in fight scenes.
Doom and food is on the brain, so we watch "Soylent Green" and see what people in the 1970s thought life would be like next year. Also we examine Charlton Heston's humanity and the importance of social justice.
We watch the Rosalind Russell classic "Auntie Mame" and hope for laughs and free expression. Are we met with belly laughs and positive role models, or just a bunch of bigots and bankers?
We explore faith and prophecy this week as we watch the 1948 version of "Joan of Arc," starring 33-year-old Swedish actress Ingrid Bergman playing the title French teenager. Does this one do her justice? Or does the church come out looking good in the end?
We go '50s sci-fi again this week and watch "Them!" Ian hopes to try and process some childhood trauma, while Joshua marvels at the sight of a working government.
In search of Marlene Dietrich, we decide to watch "Witness for the Prosecution" and get bombarded by surprise and intrigue. And spoilers. Remember we spoil the crap out of everything and this one is no exception. You've been warned.
Today is Ian's birthday! To celebrate, we watch one of his all-time favorites, the original "Around the World in 80 Days." Will Ian regret his decision and ruin his birthday? Listen and find out whether he reveals his true age.
