  • I Remember - With Craig Sicilia
I Remember – Hosted by Craig Sicilia First off we want to thank all the veterans out there for their service, and our deepest gratitude for all the men and woman who have sacrificed for our freedoms.  As a survivor a warrior in this epidemic so hidden that I don’t even know who I am a lot of the time.  I remember all the loss of friends and family and especially myself, or at least my old self. I am this new person who the people I used to love, don’t recognize, I still remember those times, but they have been over shadowed by the destruction of the old me and the pain as I formed this new person.  In the realm of things I have learned to like this new me, this more sensitive person who truly cares for people. And now something new has happened, a type of ptsd from all of the new friends that this new me has made in the last 9 years are dying all around me, the loss that I am feeling in my heart make it that I find myself struggling to care, struggling to go on.  As I write this I am not sure I can but am trying.  I never allowed myself to develop a person relationship, to fall in love, I would not allow it.  Tonight we will explore how to cope with loss, share what we need to do to allow ourselves to love.  Allow ourselves to live life again. Join in let’s see if we can discover how this all works

  • Disability Movement - is it possible - Hosted by Craig Sicilia
A Disability Movement Tonight we will have a new episode with Cheryl Green and talk about her new upcoming movie “Who am I to Stop It” and maybe get one of the cast members in.  It’s an incredible story about survivors and their personal journeys. As Well we shall talk about our disability movement.  It has been a difficult journey for me as a person.  The last 7 years have seemed like 2 life-times.  I have learned so much combined with so many failures.  My mission or goal was to be part of the biggest movement in history as people with disabilities came together for the greater cause, one of equity and inclusion.   A place where all were welcome no matter what.  Though there have been many successes over the years, people working together building each other up and accepting each other mistakes and all.  This is not without disappointment at times as we create opportunities to empower people it ends up being a boxing ring where people want to be right rather than do right.  I have lost friends and support believing people will overcome.  It has been one thing advocating against those who have hi-jacked our disability for profit and image is one thing but how do you advocate for those who would destroy each other to be right.  All of this combined with the constant anger of all those who are powerless in their lives who put anger in each other because they don’t believe exactly the same, or believe they invented disability and its movement.  Or the anger when a contributor shares their message with too much color, or is negative everyone is so quick to judge each other. Disillusioned, beaten and shaken like so many others out there.  Makes one wonder if it’s even possible or is it just a waste of time -  Listen to my rants tonight on my monolog and you tell me is it worth it and why

  • Brain Injury Radio - I HAD A DREAM -with Craig Sicilia
I HAD A DREAM M.L.K. is the master of advocacy a advocacy that changes hearts and minds knowing it takes generations of advocacy and hard work he began a journey that was not popular in the minds of those who stood to lose the most and those they influenced.  It was a fight started a hundred years before him and will be going on a hundred years after.  But the king taught man to stand up for what they believe, to not accept how things are.  He as well paid the ultimate price for his believes.  Until Dr. King we humans did not know what it was to stand up for something greater than ourselves  To stand up to change what people think and how they treat another person.  We will Honor Dr. King and talk about his history as it relates to our future. So many of us who are living in the aftermath of a brain injury understand this.  And as people, our communities and society in general are largely clueless what brain injury means.  Hell it takes us survivors who live with it everyday years to even begin to understand.  We asking people to understand and accept something they cannot see.  And in many cases something we can’t explain or cope with.  And most of the time by the time we can begin to explain or understand it, there is no one left to share it with.  And like most movements those who feel so deeply and step up to bring change will never see the change in people’s hearts and minds.  You can have all the laws and acts and everything else but none of it means a thing until it is in people’s hearts and minds. How do we change hearts and minds, how do we find each other.  Reach out find someone don’t be alone, then together find others.  Find that voice that we have in common and change the world.

  • 2015 New Year - Now What with Craig Sicilia
2015 – THE YEAR OF CHANGE AND COLABORATION Here we go, into the first Monday after the holiday, for me holidays have consumed my inner energy, this year though, Year 8 I am ready to start my life again.  It has been like my life was on hold for 8 years thank God for the others like me I have found. If not for the others, I would have gone mad, no one could understand what I was dealing with including myself.  By the time I figured out what it was, everything and everyone I loved and valued had given up and written me off.  Though I find great value in what we do, the community as a whole does not support those living with brain injuries doing for themselves, unless it meets their agenda. Screw their agenda I say, coming into 2015 I believe I have a new focus one that will be sustainable, one with new partnerships of those who will support survivors.  These organization who want to give us hand outs and their pity and false understanding of who and what we are. Instead it is time for hand ups, things that empower survivors, finding that new self, quicker and more smoothly, without losing everything we value in our hearts, which means survivors educating caregivers and family members so they can try to understand and have hope before they abandon and write us off. The time has come to unite those who want to fight for a change in the mentality of organizations providing services to us, a time to partner with those organizations who support this belief of empowerment, and being part of making it all work together. 2015 – THE YEAR OF CHANGE AND COLABORATION

  • Abandoned Self - Hosted by Craig Sicilia
Hosted by Craig Sicilia Join in as we ponder “Why” Here I go through what is my 8th Christmas, or holiday season, this time of year is the setting for my life as I knew it would slowly crumble over a couple of year period.  But at the same time the desperation of trying to figure out what the hell is going on.  This person with emotional burst of I don’t know what.  As well as an inner change of what I held important.  Of the very fibers of what made me me, and as I look into the mirror I was somebody I didn’t even recognize.  Finding others like myself was a key in holding a life together, and it got easier as I discovered who I was and what I valued.  Many had a hard time with this “new me “as did I.  This year I learned more valuable lessons as the distance between the old and new me.  As I continue to let go of parts of the old me, it has become clear that this new person is who I am, and I have to learn to live a life again as this new me, like it or not. As you stop caring about those things you once held close to your heart, the feeling just being left void inside your deepest essence of who you are. As you wonder - What is to Come Next?
