  • RIP Chris - Sand Box #2 throwing sand - by Craig Sicilia
RIP Chris - Sand Box #2 throwing sand - by Craig Sicilia Tonight we are going to remember Chris Bartlame as I finish up a second memorial of one of our TBI Leaders who has fought the fight before us and has passed on to a better place and some of his challenges promoting the survivor agenda in the 90's and what it was like then. We will transition to our sand box (tbi world) today and the struggles that the brain injury has, why we can't unify as a community.  Why like so many other disabilities we are not able to stand up with one voice and change this stereo type that the word brain injury sets into people minds good and bad.  Why our disability is discounted by society as significant and causing brain injury to stay hidden into the corners of society leaving survivors isolated, alone and very much afraid.  We are the silent epidemic because of these issues and it is time. It is time for all of us around the country and world to stand up and say - World Here we are, Loud and Proud- I am great just as i am, I am a survivor and I am my own best expert and stop talking for me. Please contribute to this show if you are a survivor and have advise for other survivors how to make a difference, How to join together to have a bigger voice.  But mostly how to love the life we live and not let depression set in on us because of what others might believe or think. as well going to share some music that got me boos and not ready for prime time ruff and raw

  • The Sandbox Why we can't Play together - Craig Sicilia
The Sand Box  Part One - Why there is not unity in the survivor movement Hosted By Craig Sicilia There is a reason that brain injury is the hidden or silent epidemic.  We try to get into the sand box but in no time at all the box is empty because we through so much sand in each others faces there we are in this sand box all the sand gone just us alone and nothing to do. It is true that brain injury accesentuates everything including our egos and pride.  With or with out a brain injury egos and pride destory organization as badly as gread and bad plans.  We see it, we know it.  But we continue to do it anyways.  Some professionals say survivors should lead groups.  Some times their right but over all they are sadly mistaken.  Only survivors know the journey and the bulk of the money goes to support organizations who put 90% of that money into support people who are not survivors to serve us.   Survivor leaders can be arogant, self centered, closed minded, prejeduce against each other, gosip, point the finger really quick, competitive whos accident was the worse and more and that was me in the first 10 minutes in the beginning of the journey.  Now I truly know the only expertise is the journey i had.  I do not have any idea what others need so we share what our expertise is and you take what works for you.   We want equity and peace yet we won't give it, we look dangerous to the outsider, and validate that with our actions.  We must stop and be happy with who we are and who our fellow survivors are.  We must empower and encourage one another wether we agree or not.  let them make their own mistakes and love them anyway.  Our journey Part 1

  • WHY WE DO THE THINGS WE DO -host by Craig Sicilia
Why we do the things we do, hosted by Craig Siclia and special co host Kim Chapman of the Joe Niekro Foundation. People don't start organization because everything is just great they ussually start them out of need, and or as in my case desperation to find answers.  For decades organizations have been run by people that it is just a business, TBI Survivors Netowrk and Brain Injury Radio and many other survivor ran organization are leading the world in answers for people. Its not about medical doctors can stich us up and have us looking as good as new maybe better.  But we change inside and I believe this can be a good positive change if you know the answers from the beginning.  Unfurtunatly the answers still are hard to come by.  Lots of many being made in our name.  And the hope for a better tomorrow seems to be based in who we were not who we are. I have not met or talked with Kim but I am guessing her new show is going to be pretty similar in creating hope and answers for people.  And just a guess they did not start their foundation because everything was so great.  We will have several other guests as well who are changing the world as we know it.

  • BRAIN INJURY ALLIANCE -WHO WHAT WHY r they
Brain Injury Alliance - hosted by Craig Sicilia Who are they, are they good for survivors, or are they another organization that wants to control them, control the resources and worse try to take the voice of brain injury awary from those living with brain injury. there website has these bullets attached to it We will act with honesty and with transparency We will be both trusting and trustworthy We will act in the expressed best interests of those we serve We will communicate openly and actively seek feedback We will encourage diversity of thought, people and ideas  This is so far from what we have seen in our state its almost ironic. In the last several years we have seen a break up in the professionals that at one time were the only voice for brain injury.  And many still think they are the voice for us.  But the survivor network stands true to its mission, for us by us.  We want to get a fair since of who the alliance is, in my state it was an exit for an organization that was and is out of touch with survivors and focuses on the money stage of our injury marketing and monetizing that stage.  Before these survivors and their families lose everything they once had including themselves.  We have probed in the BIAA though not perfect they appear to be moving in the right direction, I have sent emails out to some of the recent states and their directors and other professionals, as well as survivors from those areas.  By appearance they have less regards for survivors and many states have abandoned their groups all together share now
