I'm sharing some thoughts from a recent social media post, namely -Your next right step will probably be messy.
Here's the written form:
Your next right step will probably be messy.
But the alternative is to turn back. Which isn’t really an option either.
What hangs in the balance isn’t just simply taking a step.
It’s the creative dream you’ve been pursuing.
It’s being able to make a living from your creativity.
It’s landing that dream gig.
It’s creating something you’re passionate about that others become passionate about too.
It’s putting something uniquely you out into the world.
But taking that next messy step means … getting comfortable with being uncomfortable.
It means forging ahead when everyone around you thinks you’ve lost your mind, live in a fantasy world or that you should give it up by now.
It means sacrifice. Of time, finances, resources, and sometimes relationships.
It means being ok with being misunderstood.
Because it’s not their path, it’s yours.
It means prioritizing for your mental health when you’re wresting with those around you as well as yourself.
It’s not denying that creative part of you any longer.
It’s leading yourself in creating a bias towards action as opposed to staying stuck in over analysis.
Your two feet are in front of you.
They’re on the edge.
And what you want is on the other side of what you are facing right now.
Fear is screaming. But you’re the only one who can hear it.
We’re not promised safe passage.
Or protection from loss.
But if we’re going to make something of this one life we’ve got, there’s only one thing left to do.
Step. out.
