Creative Contact w/ Kia Orion

I don't know how he does it. This man is a dad AND an artist. ToNe Wiley is a Philadelphia native with an incredible story.

ToNe was willing to chop it up with the boy in the kitchen a few weeks back. He came out to West Philly and we talked about what it's like being an artist while balancing a family.

You can't wait for the hand of god to come down from the sky and give it to you. If you've got dreams you have to take action. ToNe drops some great gems on how to do just that.

Peep the episode and get ready for his album "Black Sheep Winter" coming soon!

What to even put here...

I INTERVIEW MY DAD JUST LISTEN TO IT, OKAY?

If you know anything about me you know how dope my parents are. That's nothing against your parents...and it's not a competition but...mine are just...

better?

Sidebar: please DM my mom https://www.instagram.com/jaa17/ and tell her to stop being a baby and do the podcast already...

I was fortunate enough to sit down with my old man, Rick Rogers, and dive deep into life pre-Kia. (God knows I came along and ruined everything.)

Pops has been working on an autobiography since 2012 and just finished it last week. It's over 1000 pages. This man got STORIES Y'ALL.

I thought I'd release this in honor of the fact he finished that sucker, and give you a little taste of what will be in the book. We don't quite make it to the glory years, but we get a taste of what life was like growing up in Miami, getting drafted into the Vietnam War, and much much more.

Pop was a storyteller and children's author for most of his professional career. He self-published three books and traveled around the US telling stories for school programs. He continues to tell stories in schools (he lands more paid gigs than i do. i'm not joking) and recently with the help of his more handsome son created his first website. You can check out the website below, and if you'd like to get in touch you can use either email, smoke signal, or carrier pigeon.

I love this man. And you will too.

Enjoy!

BRUH. This man really does it all. When I say multi-dimensional it doesn't even come close to an accurate description.

Photographer, director, dancer, model, the list goes on...

I met up with Marcus a few weeks ago at a cozy little cafe on Pine Street. He dropped some CRAZY gems on the boy and was hands down one of the dopest artists I've ever had the chance to meet.

We talk about what it's like growing up in the "country hood" of Norristown, going to UArts in Philly, and how he manages all of his creative pursuits at the same time.

Marcus has such an incredible and compelling story, I hope you learn as much from him as I did. (Frfr, I listened back to the entire episode again this morning because there was so much I missed the first time...)

Marcus is currently holding a Casting Call in Philadelphia, March 24th 9am-1pm for multiple projects and creative ventures:

"Follow these steps to the T if you want in: (18+ Only) Email 1 headshot + 1 full-body shot minimum (phone pics are ok), name, age, location, height, weight, talents + skills to [email protected] with CASTING in the subject line, DEADLINE MARCH 21ST for submission."

YUP. WE BACK. SOLO DOLO YOLO

(can you tell I'm excited?)

New EP and video TONIGHT. In this episode I talk about the roll out for POWER, MONEY, FAME, SEX and where the inspiration for the title and concept came from.

I also touch on the insecurities that come with releasing music, the importance of deliberate practice, renting a hotel room in jersey for a video shoot, and what's in the chamber for the next few weeks.

Shout out to all the people who helped put these pieces together AND SHOUT OUT TO YOU FOR PEEPIN THIS!
