In today's episode, I interviewed Latina speaker and professional photographer, Jasmine Lopez. Jasmine's creative journey started with a camera and a dream. As a first-gen college student, Jasmine has walked in partnership with the Lord through every season of her life. Her challenges and triumphs have led her to support others in their creative journeys - specifically BIPOC creatives. This is where the Firehouse Dream was born. The Firehouse Dream provides young adults from communities that have experienced disinvestment with opportunities to discover creative skill sets like photography, cinematography, brand identity, while being equipped with financial wellness and other tools needed to create an income and to partner their lived experiences with purpose allowing them to thrive. Jasmine encourages the creative to not only dream, but take an opportunity to imagine. She believes imagining is different than dreaming in that it's taking limitations off of ourselves and what could be. We should always seek the opportunity for the Lord to partner with us in our imagination.

As Christians we are called to serve, support and give to others. We want to love God and love people so at times it can be hard to say no when we are asked to help. Though sometimes we can find ourselves giving so much of ourselves that we end up burning out or missing what God is actually calling us to do. I can relate. And when this happens, we absolutely must practice saying "NO". Saying "No" to good things opens the door to saying "Yes" to the best things. There has to be a Holy Spirit discernment on when to say yes and know to different opportunities so that they do not become distractions to the calling that God has on your life. In today's episode we will have the hard conversation on knowing when to say "No" so that you can begin to thrive and advance the Kingdom of God with nothing holding you back!

Sometimes we can find ourselves creating the way others expect us to create rather than from a place of individualized and inner creativity. Tori encourages the creative to embrace obscurity. There's a beauty in creating from a place of freedom while being a season when you are undiscovered, but still building strong relationships and impacting others. She also shares her journey of walking into her newfound creative calling, which she felt was unattainable at one point in time. God's Word tells us that His power works best in weakness. Sometimes God just wants us to show up so He can show out! This is the testimony of today's guest. In this episode I interview singer-songwriter and worship leader, Christina Maldonado. Christina shares how God has used seemingly difficult situations to deconstruct her, giving Him room to reconstruct, rededicate and repurpose her for His kingdom's cause. She wants the creative to know that It's okay to be broken. Your creativity and gifting is sometimes connected to past hurts, but He will lead you to forgiveness and wholeness. You are free when you allow the Holy Spirit to work through your brokenness and through your weakness. He just wants you to show up so He can show out.

In today's episode I interviewed artist, Adrian Navarro. Adrian is a sketch artist, animator, photographer and musician. Adrian is actually a big part of one of my business ventures, "Landon and Aiden", a fun and educational children's YouTube channel. He and I have also led worship together on numerous occasions.
Adrian shares how he had a completely different career path in mind and then made a major shift when considering his vocational happiness. He wanted to work in a field that he would be excited about when going to work. He considered his gift as an artist, pursued animation and God has been opening doors ever since! Adrian encourages the artist to remember that you are good enough. Whenever you have doubt, shift your mentality, have confidence, pray on it and just go for it. The moments when you are uncomfortable are the moments God uses to develop us.

When you're pursuing your creative field, whether it be music, modeling, acting, whatever it may be, it is crucial to never give up. Sometimes it may feel like a rollercoaster - bookings and auditions can be great at times, then at other times, it can be quiet and not working out. And it's not for a lack of effort. But in these lower points, the key is to not give up and not despair because you don't know what God has on the horizon for you. In today's episode, I interviewed actress and model Keilah Jude. Keilah shares her journey of desiring a career in acting from a young age, to eventually booking gigs with agents and signing with big industries. She reminds the creative to always remain faithful to what you are called to do. If your life's passion and calling are in a specific field - you must simply show up, be ready and be prepared. That's all you can do. The rest is in God's hands.

Performance and social anxiety is a reality for many creatives. The pressures of being an artist and comparing ourselves to others can make us question our value. We must make sure not to operate in a space of deficiency, but rather, remember that we've been given our creativity for a reason, and should operate as such. In today's episode I interview singer-songwriter, Dennis Earl Foster II. Dennis shares his story of how fear and anxiety once stifled him as a creative, and how the Lord used situations to cause a shift in his mindset that allowed him to venture out into big opportunities. Dennis has gone from hesitantly singing in a small room, to confidently leading thousands in worship!

Today's guest is Vantenia Kelley. In today's episode Vantenia shares her story of how when she decided to commit herself to excellence, God opened tremendous doors. She reminds us that when God speaks a word over your life, He will bring it to pass - our only job is to trust Him at His word. 

Vantenia Kelley is a Chicago native, who received her B.F.A. in dance from Northern Illinois University. She has worked with, trained, and taught various dance ministries, dance teams, and studios throughout the Chicagoland area and abroad. She has trained in various styles of dance such as modern, jazz, ballet, hip hop, contemporary, and African. She is currently the lead dancer for Recording Christian Pop Artist Shuree Rivera. Vantenia is also a member of Dance Missions International and has traveled to Uganda, Africa to teach and minister through dance. Vantenia is passionate about her love for dance and aims to inspire others to always follow their dreams. She has just launched Hallowed Ground Dance Ensemble, African-inspired dance across multi-generations.

Vantenia encourages the creative to walk out on water - He's not going to let us sink as long as we keep our focus on Him.
