Come Out To SAT IN A BOAT on December 10th!

Creative Encounter in Partnership with Chicago Chi Alpha Presents Sat in a Boat by Artist Rebecca Diane Huang in Collaboration with Dance Ministry of Second City Church

Sat in a Boat is a thought-provoking, stimulating, and emotional multimedia modern dance performance that investigates faith and reason through an intersection of movement, originally composed music, animation, singing, a script and spoken word. In a world filled with despair and tragedy, we often feel stuck in a sea of confusion, thrashing and clawing our way to a light at the end of the tunnel. Yet amid the darkness, we are still driven by passion, evidence, hope and an innate knowledge that we are built for more, that salvation may yet be attainable. That God is still trustworthy and close when all we can see are the storms of life. Our many waters can be calmed.

Be inspired by an evening of creative arts that remind you of the hope we have from the Gospel that God gave to the world He loves, to us. Rooted in research and apologetics, Sat in a Boat is performed by dancers Sarah Baker, Sarah Freeman, Rebecca Diane Huang, Elijah Richardson, Marceia L. Scruggs and spoken word artists LDJ and CM2Live. The evening will also feature the exquisite singing, music, animation and writing by Donavahn Frierson, Emmanuel Lifschultz, Christa J. Sangster Monroe, and Aly Raden. Experience an innovative and relatable performance that vulnerably, boldly, honestly and intelligently shares a glimpse of a journey of faith. Audiences are invited for a special panel discussion immediately after the production.

When was the last time you said to yourself, “If only there were more hours in the day”? Oftentimes it might feel like we would get more done if only we could add some hours to the clock. The issue isn’t that there aren’t enough hours, the problem is that we aren’t making better use of the hours we already have.

The famous people that we idolize have the same 24 hours that you and I have. The only difference is that they set aside intentional time to get the job done.

The simple truth is, you can have the most extravagant goals in life, but if you don’t make TIME for those goals, they will never happen. It takes discipline. It takes making time. Moreover, it takes being a MASTER of time management. I will be giving you 3 very practical steps that are certain to help you get the ball rolling on making time for your dreams. Resting is hard. Workaholism is real. So much so that God had to make it a commandment for us to rest - He knew it would be a struggle. So what is it? As artists, entrepreneurs, and and people in general, why is it so hard for us to rest, relax, and take much needed breaks? Do we subconsciously tie our value and worth into our level of output? In this episode, I interview Liv Roskos as she helps us to tackle these questions. Liv shares her real life experiences and struggles as it relates to making the time to take care of self as a priority. Get ready to take notes today!
