Sean Ferguson @inkstatic Often designers turn into illustrators and lots of illustrators embrace design but many don’t want to turn to the design side once they have gone full-illustration, but Sean is a man of business and opportunity but also a man who loves helping people. Sean did not stop at illustration or design, he is also a photographer and a strategist. This may seem like a big turn maybe but it has him happy and challenged. He has found a place where he is valued, stretched, and can make a difference.

I always love talking to Sean, talk about a JOY, that is him. He is easy to talk to, always makes you feel welcome and like an equal. I love that about him. He is humble and has some killer skills. SERIOUSLY KILLER SKILLS. But that is not all, he is also willing to grow, to stretch and not always do the same thing he has been known for. I love that about him, willing to reinvent himself all the time.

I am good don't worry about me. Seriously I am so grateful for you, for my family, for clients, my students, for God clarifying things for me on a daily basis.

He comes from the other side, the non-design side, but has a LOVE for designers and creatives. He is an amazing writer and wise soul. He speaks so much truth in his book, Win Without Pitching. Blair teaches creatives how to position themselves as the expert and by doing this we are able to charge more for our services which allows us to leave the desperation mentality and swim into the deep end.

This episode is going to be a little different because I did not send him any questions, at his request. So truly an off-the-cuff interview. There will be some seriously challenging mind shifts in this episode. And he will share insights into why creatives have a hard time understanding and charging our worth for our services.

This episode almost didn't happen. I am honestly tired and I just had spring break. But Spring Break was awesome. I got a lot of work done for some clients and I feel great about it. But it meant some late nights. I also made time to meet some new friends and get to know them better. This episode is going to focus on how I look at success and set myself up for success when I plan an event, client presentations, or even going out and trying something new.

Because what IF you plan something, launch something, create something and no one buys, no one shows up. What if there are only crickets?

We are going to talk about looking at the goals in a new way, having realistic expectations, and catering to crickets. When you look at failure head-on and challenge it, you take it's power away. I want to show you how collaboration, mentoring, perspective shifts, and chasing after failure has helped me get more success than I ever would have prepared for.
