I am making 75 birds out of paper to create a new illustration style, find a process, refine that process, and then figure out what to do with what I have made.

I am diving into birds and only a few different birds (for now). I want to get better at them and that takes looking at the same kind of bird a lot.

You'll see a lot of geese, ostriches, flamingos, and seagulls. Lots of birds with long necks, and some short neck birds too but not as many.

We close mental health awareness month with Colin Grist and a story about making a change in your life for your mental health and physical health. Colin's going to share about feeling like he was having a heart attack and going to the doctor to find out he had a different diagnosis.

When you're running a business and trying to keep up a creative practice as well as always be growing and innovating it can be tiring. Exciting but exhausting. Nathalie (Nat) Kalbach has been someone who has been inspiring me from her art to her business for over ten years.

Nat took a sabbatical. There are a lot of expectations of a sabbatical. I know because I had one in January of 2018. We are going to hear the good and bad about taking a sabbatical.

I am excited to connect you with my one of my best friends since 8th grade, Amy Bryant. She is a professional, licensed counselor and has been integral in helping me with all kinds of things I have struggled with over the years.

Most recently Amy and I have been discussing neurodiversity and how different people's brains work. This is another reason why we focus a whole month on mental health. I never want anyone to feel alone, and a lot of people feel different or awkward and this can make them feel isolated.

My brain works different than others but as a kid I thought I wasn't as smart as others. Amy has a heart for helping people who are hurting and she makes a huge difference to the clients she works with and their families. It is important to ask for help, professional help. It is also important to know that everyone is different. We don't have to fit into the same boxes. For us creatives this is a superpower and helps us in our jobs. We have to embrace it.

This week I will talk to Colin Grist about his design journey from working a corporate design job to picking a partner to go out on their own. It takes a lot of courage to leave the safety and security of a job and to go out on your own is hard, but I love the idea of finding someone to do this journey with me.

If you are like me it's also super scary to think about finding someone who will take it seriously and where our strengths are not the same. I can't wait to ask him about this journey and about his niche of helping charities and why they focus on that sector.

I can't wait to introduce you to my friend Colin, on Thursday. We are doing a Thursday show because Colin teaches a dance class on Wednesdays.
