Today our special guest is Ann Marie Cockburn whose mother Ann Heron from Glasgow was murdered on August 3, 1990 while sunbathing in the garden of her home near Darlington, County Durham.

Ann Marie was found around 6pm that evening in a pool of blood by her husband Peter Heron who was a haulage contractor. It remains one of Britain's most baffling unsolved murders and Ann Marie is here to tell us why  she hopes the man responsible can still be brought to justice - 35 years later

Former Metropolitan Police detective Peter Bleksley turned author and TV host has given Criminal Record his explosive views on the unsolved murder of Nairn banker Alistair Wilson in 2004.

Bleksley, who played The Chief in the hit Channel Four series, is critical of the original police investigation and believes the case could and should have been solved by now.

He has also identified a suspect for the murder and says he is willing to meet with the detectives to share his information.

Members of the public will also get the chance to hear his theories on the murder  n a nationwide one man show which will tour the UK and Ireland next year.

Norman Silverster is joined by Graeme Pearson, former Director General of the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency,  on this week’s Criminal Record podcast to continue our examination of the long running Lyons and Daniel gangland feud which saw two Lyons family members Ross Monaghan and Eddie Lyons jnr shot dead last month in a bar owned by Monaghan in Spain.

Closer to home police have been investigating a series of targeted fire bombing and other attacks against Daniel family members and associates since March in both Edinburgh and Glasgow.

We will also take a look at plans by First Minister John Swinney for an anti youth violence summit to tackle the problem of knife crime among the young.

Graeme Pearson is the former Director General of the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency formed in 2001 to target organised crime in Scotland. 

Mr Pearson led the organisation between 2004 and 2007 where a number of major criminals were brought to justice including the notorious Jamie "Iceman" Stevenson.

After a distinguished police career Mr Pearson became a Labour MSP and served as the party's justice spokesperson and is now an Honorary Professor at Glasgow University.
