CrimsonCast's founders stake their claims to the upcoming season's results, as we go game-by-game through the 2024 schedule and project wins and losses for each week. We both land in a pretty optimistic place --- which will likely lead to some skepticism and derision from certain circles --- but there are a variety of factors at play that could lead to this being a pretty special season for IU football. A soft schedule, a Big Ten with multiple teams in huge transition, and some really promising parts of the Hoosiers roster are all hard things to ignore. Scott is joined by Connor Onion of the Big Ten Network to preview the upcoming IUFB Season.  They talk about his move to Fox for football, the Northwestern temporary football stadium, the vibe around IU football last season around Coach Allen, his thoughts on the attitude of Coach Cignetti, the litmus test of the Cignetti address, places where IU could struggle under Cignetti in his first year, why IU should be a bowl team, changes he sees in IU football in high school recruiting, how the expansion of the BIG will affect teams this season.

Indiana had its first day of summer/fall camp today, which is as good a reason as any for an all-football CrimsonCast episode. Big Ten football media days are back! We talk about Curt Cignetti’s big splash, the buzz being generated by the new coach and his staff, and how that can relate to team success. We also take a look at the college football video game through Scott’s eyes, and talk a little bit about non-conference basketball scheduling.

On today’s podcast, I take a look at the new NCAA CFB 25 college football video game. I’ve been playing it for a week now and have some observations on where the game is doing well, but also where there are problems. At this point the game is neither a home run nor a catastrophe, and we delve into the details in the first segment.

Then (21:30) it’s on to covering the latest in the NIL / House settlement, and why it hasn’t gotten here yet. There’s some unfortunate but predictable infighting going on in the settlement process, and a real chance that the court refuses to accept the settlement even if those items are solved. I talk a bit about those items and how the courts might evaluate the situation as a whole.

On a weekend edition of CrimsonCast, GC takes a look at the recently announced IU men’s basketball non-conference schedule. Was it a smart set of scheduling decisions? Why was the reception to the announcement so negative? And what does IU need to do against the schedule to have success this year?
