If you’ve ever picked up your crochet hook and instantly felt calmer, you’re not imagining it. Crochet isn’t just a creative hobby — it’s a powerful form of self-care that can calm anxiety, ease depression, reduce stress, and even support your brain health.
Yes, you heard that right!
It’s one of those rare activities that helps your mind, body, and soul all at once — and science is finally starting to explain why.
Just a heads up, I did a LOT of research when preparing for this episode so if I sound all scientific-y, that’s why.
In today’s episode, I’m going to share studies that prove that crochet and other crafts are good for your brain and how it can relieve stress, anxiety, and even depression.

Have you ever caught yourself thinking, “I’m just not good enough”?
In this episode, we’re diving into how anxiety actually works, why it tries to “protect” us by overthinking everything, and how those anxious thoughts can quietly shape the way we see ourselves.
Using the movie Inside Out 2 as a visual example, I share what happens when anxiety takes over and starts rewriting our core beliefs.
We’ll talk about how that happens, what it means for your sense of self, and how to gently take back control by befriending your emotions instead of fighting them.
If you’ve ever struggled with perfectionism, overthinking, or feeling like you’re losing touch with who you really are, this episode will help you see anxiety in a new light - not as the enemy, but as a part of you that just needs a little understanding.

Hey friend,
If you want to live a life you love, knowing your values is a good place to start. If you don't know your values (or you don't follow them) you could feel incomplete; like something's missing, or that you've lost your identity.
When I became a mom, my identity shifted to solely being a mom. Everything I did was to contribute to that purpose. And later I'll explain how I fell into a depression because of it - not because of being a mom but because of the mindset I had.
In today's episode, we will talk about:
I hope you enjoy today's episode!

Hey friend!
If I simply told you to read a book, what would you say?
If you're already a reader, you probably already know the major benefits it has on your mental health.
But if you're not, it’s either because you don’t have time to read or you just don’t enjoy it.
In today’s episode, I’m going to try and convince you otherwise.

Are you overwhelmed by the weight of everything you have to carry? Do you feel disconnected from yourself and the things that used to make you feel like you? Have you ever wondered why you can't seem to slow down, why you're always questioning yourself, or why, no matter how much you do, you still feel like you're not enough?
Maybe you're tired of striving to be the woman you think you're supposed to be—and you're ready to feel at home in yourself again.
Welcome to Crocheting Through Emotions.
This podcast is here to help you quiet the noise so you can reconnect with yourself, understand what shaped you, and discover who you were created to be. It's a space for women who are ready to stop living on autopilot and start paying attention to what's happening beneath the surface.
I'm Sigoni—a mom, wife, and recovering anxious perfectionist who spent years believing I was the problem.
I tried to fix myself with self-help books, productivity systems, time-management strategies, and endless attempts to become a better version of myself. I got sucked into hustle culture and pushed through exhaustion instead of listening to what I actually needed. I tried to change the parts of me I thought weren't good enough.
And eventually, I broke down.
I sank into yet another depression that left me feeling ungrateful for all of the things I did have.
That was when I realized I didn't need another strategy for becoming someone else. I needed to understand why I had become so disconnected from myself in the first place.
I began looking deeper at the experiences that shaped me, the lies I'd come to believe about myself, and the expectations I was carrying. I even spent thousands of dollars learning everything I could about mental health.
But most importantly, I realized I needed something deeper.
I started learning about who God is and who He says I am.
I discovered that I wasn't created to spend my life striving to fit into a box that was never made for me. I was created with intention and purpose, and the more I understood who God created me to be, the more I began to understand myself.
Now, this podcast is a space for you to do that same kind of exploring.
You'll learn to slow down and pay attention to what's really going on beneath the surface. We'll untangle the thoughts, beliefs, and experiences that may be shaping the way you see yourself. We'll talk about caring for yourself without guilt, reconnecting with your creativity, understanding your emotions, and building a deeper relationship with God.
But I'm not going to pretend I have all the answers.
If you're new to Christianity—or maybe it's something you've never really been interested in talking about—I get it. I'm a baby Christian, learning right alongside you, and I want to share how transformational this journey has been for me.
You don't have to keep pushing, performing, and trying to become someone you're not.
You can escape the busyness that the world defines as normal. You can get curious about who you are. You can begin to understand your story—and discover who God created you to be.
So if you're ready to quiet the noise, reconnect with yourself, find deeper peace, and stop striving to be everything you think you're "supposed" to be, you're in the right place.
Get cozy, grab your crochet project, and put in your earbuds.
Together, we'll learn to stop striving and start abiding.
