In 1965 John Lennon wrote what became a hit title song for the movie "Help!" and the rest is history. Later in an interview, John said about the song, "I was fat and depressed and I was crying out for help." The Beatles were on top of the world, but John Lennon didn't feel any more secure than anyone else. We all want to feel secure. There are all kinds of things that make us afraid, some real, others imagined. And in every case, our fears get in the way of living a peaceful life. So what do we do to feel secure? In our next Top ten Psalm, Pastor Bill will bring some Help! from God's Word. In Psalm 27, God has some amazing things to say about our security, and it will reach both our heads and our hearts and help us to live in peace.

There are some musical groups that have amazing chemistry…to the point that they are not only popular with one particular age group, they impact generations and span across decades. Like The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen and Led Zeppelin before them, U2 has been a perennially popular band. In 2001, their single "Beautiful Day" won three Grammy awards, including Song of the Year. Within the lyrics of Beautiful Day, their lead singer Bono encourages listeners to see the magnificence of creation. If you love the Bible, when you hear Bono sing, "See the world in green and blue, see China right in front of you, see the canyons broken by cloud, see the tuna fleets clearing the sea...” you are reminded of Psalm 19. Within this beautiful song of David, the great king, musician and psalmist writes about a God who desires to reveal Himself. In the next installment of our Top Ten series, you'll learn more about our great God and His intimate relationship with us, as Pastor Daniel explains God's chosen modes of self-revelation.

The year was 1986 and something extraordinary happened. There was the fusion of a classic rock song by Aerosmith with a remix done by rap artist Run DMC. This first of its kind fusion both invented a new genre (rock rap) that is still popular to this day and also reinvigorated the career of Aerosmith. That song, which ended up at number 5 on Billboard’s 100 was entitled “Walk This Way.” Walk This Way is the name of our first message in The Top Ten series on the book of Psalms. Pastor Daniel will focus on Psalm 1 which is also the fitting doorkeeper to the entire Psalter. In this Psalm we will learn that there are two different paths that we can follow. One is the path of blessing and fruitfulness. The other is the path of judgment and death. For each of us, choosing which way to walk is a daily endeavor. This new series is going to be amazing. Come one and come all.

Sometimes a concept is overused so often that it loses the heart impact it so rightly deserves. Love is one of those concepts. Worn-out and often abused in our society, love begins to sound trite and trivial. But, it is the centerpiece of the Christian faith and is absolutely necessary for human flourishing. As we close out our Advent-ageous series and look towards the new year, we will be exploring the concept of love from 1 Corinthians 13. Pastor Daniel will explore the necessity of love, the quality of love and the eternality of love. This is a message that you will definitely want to share with your friends too!
