Crossroads - Weekend Messages

All of life is a series of “yes” and “no” decisions...At every moment, a “no” to one thing is a “yes” to another. Imagine if we only said “yes” to the right things - how much simpler would life be? Because none of us ever has everything perfectly figured out, that’s not actually possible. But when we line our lives up with Jesus and agree with what he says about how we should make decisions, we enter a way of life more beautiful than what we could have chosen on our own. Join us for this Sunday’s message as we close out our Presence series and discover what it means to agree with God and trust his plans for our lives.

Jesus' life was filled with moments that sparked change in the lives of others. In these "spark moments," people had a choice to make. They could ignore the sparks and remain the same or fan the sparks into flame and be forever changed. We face the same decision. Holy sparks are flying. Are we going to let them catch fire?

Walking with Jesus can feel like hard work...and it can be. But so often we over-complicate what it means to just walk, step-by-step, with the Lord. That’s why at Crossroads we love to say that we are “simply responding to Jesus.” As a church family, we want to embrace simplicity with an elegant consistency, to grow in faith over the long haul, without losing our childlike sense of keeping things simple. Join us this Sunday for a special Mid-Year Vision Update about 2019’s Year of Simplicity, as we celebrate the work of God in and through our Crossroads family!

Our joy is never complete unless it’s shared. When we experience something that brings us joy, we want to share it with others - whether it’s a new restaurant, a new relationship or a new job. We all want to belong, to experience the kind of community that only comes from sharing experiences...in the same way, when we walk with Jesus, we should naturally be excited to share about who he is. Join us this Sunday as we learn together what it means to share our life in Jesus and also experience the truest relationships we’ve ever known.

Let’s face it: we’re our own worst enemies. So many of the problems we face in life (not all of them) are because we pursued things that were ultimately not healthy for us - and were maybe even destructive. The beautiful thing about Jesus is he pursues us, even when we aren’t looking for him.

Belief and trust are very different things… We can believe a chair is capable of holding us, but until we actually sit in it and prove it, we’re not actually trusting what we say is true. And trust is hard! We encounter so many beautiful and painful things in life, and so often life gives us reasons not to trust the words of others. Jesus is not only the most trustworthy person we’ll ever meet, he’s the God who promises to protect us when everything else feels uncertain. Join us for this Sunday’s message as we encounter our God, who makes promises...and keeps them.

Our lives are never a straight course, are they? There’s twists and turns and obstacles we have to navigate all the time, and what makes it even harder is when we feel alone in the midst of it all. Sometimes we feel alone even in the presence of other people because no one can ever fully understand what we’re experiencing. But one of the beautiful things about Jesus, is he’s fully present with us in the midst of all we go through...and he totally gets it. God’s presence is his promise to us. Join us as we embark on a new series through 1 Chronicles 16:7-36, and encounter the power of being in the presence of God.

So often we struggle to figure out our priorities in life, and then everything feels out of whack. When we put our faith and trust in Jesus, he helps us line up our lives with his priorities and agenda...when that’s lined up, that’s when God starts to deliver.

We are always being formed into an image of some kind. Sometimes we mold ourselves into our own image of who we think we should be. Other times we form ourselves to whatever image we think others expect of us or find pleasing. As followers of Jesus, our worship takes shape in being conformed to his image and transformed in how we think about everything. And a life of worship to Jesus is the most freeing way we can choose to live.

If you’ve followed Jesus for a while or spent any time around church, you’ve heard the word “worship” tossed around a lot...But worship is far more than something we do on a Sunday morning - it’s a life-encompassing, world-altering reality.
