Crossroads - Weekend Messages

Life is full of pressure - pressure to perform a certain way, pressure to choose between right and wrong, pressure to trust that the Lord is who He says He is. The enemy looks for the moments when we’re under pressure to tempt us to choose anything other than obedience to God. When the pressure comes, do you know how to stand firm as a follower of Jesus? Join us this Wednesday as we learn from Jesus Himself how to handle life’s pressures, and let the Holy Spirit spark in us a desire to know God’s Word.

Because God doesn’t change, we know he’s good - all the time. But sometimes the
circumstances of our lives are not good. Life can be really painful! When life gets messy, we need to redirect our focus to Jesus and what He’s doing because the messiest moments of our lives are some of God’s favorite spaces in which to create something absolutely beautiful. When we trust Jesus, we can face our present trials with worship and awe. Join us this Sunday as we remind ourselves of who Jesus is and learn together about trusting him in the midst of our most painful experiences.

At some point, each of us has been caught doing something we knew wasn’t right. And for a lot of us, we feel our performance determines how others perceive - or even love - us. In the next message in our series Spark, we’ll see how Jesus treats a woman caught in an act of wrongdoing, and how the infinite love he extends to her is equally available to all of us too.

Hammers, power tools, explosives -- construction sites can be super dangerous places,
especially during demolition phases, unless you’re specially trained to navigate worksites. The crazy thing is, so often when God moves into our lives, it feels like he turns our hearts into a construction site, where he’s totally rebuilding everything. And sometimes it hurts. But God’s salvation plan for us always involves an invitation to renovation. Join us this Sunday for our next message, as we lean into the painful parts of God’s renovation plan and find wholeness and life unlike anything we’ve ever known before.

Whatever has the most power over us to affect our happiness and contentment in life is often what we’re most likely to end up in bondage to - it’s what we love, not what we hate, that we serve. One of the most beautiful things about following Jesus is he sets us free from everything else we find ourselves in service to, and the way we choose to live into the freedom he gives us is one of our greatest acts of worship to Him. Whether we think of ourselves as risk-takers or not, many of us prefer to stay in our comfort zones when it comes to following Jesus. When we think about what it means to follow Jesus, we often think about coming to church and spending time with other believers, many of whom we'd call our friends...But what if God called us to a place or a people we thought of as an enemy? Would we still follow Him? Join us this Wednesday as we take a look at how to follow Jesus when our comfort is confronted.

We all want to make an impact in this world, but we all bring our own baggage to every interaction we have. When we try to raise children or help others, it can feel impossible when we start to realize many of us haven’t received the help we’ve needed from our own families. What’s amazing is God wants to train us up by teaching us consequential thinking. And when we let God teach us, we open ourselves up to the amazing life he’s built us for. We all have a definition for what it means to be "strong," and most of our definitions exclude any kind of vulnerability...it's weak to show any sort of fear or sorrow, right? And yet, even Jesus wept. When Jesus encountered his friends Mary and Martha, as they grieved the death of their brother Lazarus, it was his vulnerability that sparked a wildfire of belief among the people of Israel. In the "deaths" of our own lives, it might just be resurrection waiting on the other side of our courageous honesty. Here’s a phrase that will change your life: “We're in the middle chapters.” No matter what’s happening in our lives, we all need to be reminded sometimes that the story isn't finished. We haven’t seen the final chapters of our lives yet because God’s work is not yet done! And the circumstances that seem the most impossible to us are exactly the places God loves to make something beautiful happen. Don’t miss the conclusion of our Plot Twist series this Sunday!
