Crossroads - Weekend Messages

Everything in life has more than one side to it, and when we only see one angle we often make decisions based on an incomplete version of reality. And that always leads to disappointment. Proverbs, one of the Bible's books of wisdom, presents all of life as a series of contrasts and comparisons, helping us see truly and live wisely. Join us for the first message in our new series, Vice Versa, as we explore Proverbs and life in all its angles.

We all have an impact. Everything we do, public and private, affects the network of people we are connected with. Maybe it’s good, maybe it’s bad, but that’s how it works. And because of that, when Jesus transforms our lives, He invites us into His work of transforming our communities and our world. Once we’re rightly oriented Upward in the love of God, and we understand how to love ourselves through the lens of the Cross, He helps us understand and live Outward in love for people. It’s not always easy, but it’s so worth it! Join us this Sunday and learn how to live outward alongside our family of faith.

God’s plans are always so much bigger than our own. Case in point: when the children of Israel thought they were defeated by their own sin and circumstances, God had something else in mind. Our world is constantly calling us to “love ourselves.” Believe it or not, Jesus calls us to the same thing--but in a different way than our culture teaches. When we learn what loving God looks like, it naturally leads us to love others the way we love ourselves. We are all trying to figure out what self-love should look like according to Jesus spirituality, so join us this Sunday to explore and grow in this powerful reality.

We are what we love, and the kind of love that forms our identities has a specific order and orientation to it. If something in our life feels off, it's probably because our love is misaligned. After the children of Israel experienced the miraculous victory at Jericho, they assumed the next battle, Ai, would be a non-issue. But when one family in the camp disobeyed God, they experienced an unexpected and crushing defeat. Join us as we follow Joshua and the Israelites into the conquest of the Promised Land.

The Greatest Teacher of all time – Jesus - taught us the point of life is love. We always love people and even things in our life, but there’s a right and a wrong movement to our love. The right kind of love moves upward to God, inward to ourselves, and outward to other people. Somehow it doesn't always work out that way. So one of the greatest things we can do for our life and relationships is learn how to love. Join us on the journey this Sunday!

Since we only get one shot at today, how can we max out every moment? Jesus offers a simple answer: love God with everything you have, and love your neighbor as yourself. In this, God's greatest commandment, there's order and artistry, a specific design for a life so satisfying and joyful it's beyond our wildest imaginings. That life is a movement, starting with our upward orientation (to God), then inward (to our own identities), and outward (to a broken world).
