Crossroads - Weekend Messages

Is Jesus on the surface of your heart, or is He the center of it? Do we love the Lord with all of our hearts, our strength, our might? Our hearts are forever changing. Are the choices of our lives pushing Him farther from us, or bringing Him closer?

Whether it's voting, driving, or renting a car, our society tells us that maturity is measured by our age. But we know that age and maturity aren't actually synonymous. How do we move past our shortcomings and get to a place where we can help others instead of just managing ourselves? In Galatians 4, the Apostle Paul teaches the Galatians how to grow up, so they could care for themselves, their friends, family, and the world around them. It's how He's designed us all to live! To many contemporary people, this section sounds like mumbo-jumbo. But this is not ignorance at work. These ceremonies express some deep truths about how God and the Jewish people saw life. The focus of this chapter is on both the Red Heifer and the Cleansing Waters. These remind us that life is messy and issues abound. But Jesus is really real!

People often say, “Jesus was a great teacher.” But He's so much more than a great teacher. In this message, explore Galatians 3, and learn why Jesus > Other Teachers – because Jesus > Everything!

One of the biggest mistakes that people make about Christianity is to think that it is a religion. This is true for Christian people as well. It is very easy to make this mistake. A religion is a set of rules that says, if you do these things, God will accept you. That is a textbook religion. We have to work, and God responds to our work either positively or negatively.

But Jesus is Greater Than Religion. Because Jesus says, "God has accepted you, now respond to His love." That is not religion. That is the Gospel! The good news of Jesus Christ. And that is what Paul is trying to explain to churches in Galatia in this weekend's message in Galatians 3:1-14. Paul is saying, "Forget your works. Live your life trusting in Jesus."

The crisis of leadership within the children of Israel had widespread consequences. This causes the Book of Numbers to detail afresh some of the responsibilities and regulations of the true priests of God. God had validated the house of Aaron, and God wanted to ensure that they lived properly.

Jesus is greater than everything. That's what the Bible is all about and that's definitely what Galatians is all about. As we learn to reorganize our lives around Jesus,
everything looks different.

As we continue this amazing study, we find ourselves in the
second half of Galatians 2, where we unpack a very important lesson, that Jesus > Our Lives. Instead of living our own lives and reaping the results, Paul shows us how to die with Jesus and let Him live through us!

The children of Israel are continuing to in the wilderness, both actually and spiritually. This section of the book of Numbers shows us their rebellion against God's chosen leadership, Moses and Aaron. After Korah's rebellion, there is another challenge of God's chosen leadership. Again, the Lord decides.

Every single person has a story. And every person is important to God. And every story is important to God. That is why our past is called history. Because Jesus is real, every story is truly His Story. Like the Apostle Paul, many of us have pasts that are not neat and tidy. We have made mistakes. We have dishonored God. But our God is a God of redemption and forgiveness.

Join us this weekend as we continue to study Paul’s letter to the Galatians. In this study, Paul will use his own story to remind us that Jesus > Your Past.

As the children of Israel find themselves in the Wilderness, they are continually challenged to follow after God. Part of following God was learning how to trust God by trusting their God-given leaders. But as we have seen, Moses' and Aaron's authority was continually challenged. In this new instance of rebellion, we will see Korah and his allies challenging God's authority with dire results.
