Culture Matters

The quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, Tony Romo, talks with Matt and Josh about the intersection of faith and professional sports. He shares his testimony, discusses the unique challenges of being a Christian and a pro athlete and also opens up about what family discipleship looks like in the Romo home.

Special guest Afshin Ziafat, the lead pastor of Providence Church, joins us to talk about what the Christian response to refugees should look like and to share some insight on the Islamic faith. In our new #AskTVC segment, we answer questions about Christians supporting Donald Trump, false gospels, the Sinner's Prayer and more.

We spend some time talking about Advent and then chat with Grammy-winning hip-hop artist and record producer Lecrae. This leads to a conversation about celebrity, cultural engagement and hip-hop, from how Lecrae has dealt with his success, recent changes at Reach Records and the way Christians should approach artists like Kendrick Lamar.

We are joined by Eric Geiger, Vice President at LifeWay over its Church Resources Division and author of several books, including Simple Church, Identity, Transformational Discipleship and Creature of the Word (co-authored by Matt Chandler and Josh Patterson). We discuss the grand mission of the Church—discipleship—and the various models by which churches carry out this mission.
