After Brian’s sermon this week, the Brentwood Presbyterian Church community celebrated holy communion, prompting the following question from Kayden “What is holy communion and why do we still celebrate it?” The ensuing conversation was full of many ideas, but Ben and Brian both agreed one one idea; that the act of communion is where they have both felt the most uplifted by the presence of God.

Our discussion this week centered on one of the most well-loved passages of scripture; 1st Corinthians chapter 13 and it’s message of faith, hope, and above all else, love. Kayden’s question centered on the nuance of  those three aspects of God, “are faith, hope and love synonymous?” Also featured in this episode was a discussion of humility as witnessed in Paul’s description of “seeing in a mirror dimly” and how our role as professing Christians plays into that dynamic.

This week, Ben & Kayden were drawn to Brian’s repeated references (citing Paul) to God reconciling the world to himself in Jesus Christ. This provoked Kayden’s question “In light of discussing Paul’s views of reconciling the world to Christ, what was God’s original intent for creation? What is the Christian understanding of Creation?”
