In 1994 he became a law enforcement officer when he discovered anew the value of a tough folding knife. Burke’s first folder — the Number One Utility Folder liner lock — was prototyped with his father, seeking a balance of combat and utility. He ended up making the Number One Utility Folder for fellow officers and friends for the cost of materials.Being both a law enforcement officer and a hunter allowed Burke to use his knives in almost every circumstance and in many different environments around the world. Burke Knives makes cutlery for military and high-end collectors alike, from the ultra-robust to the super-fine.
