Fashion and music go together like peanut butter & jelly, macaroni & cheese, black Air Force Ones & a Glock, etc! However, we are 3+ yrs old and have yet to interview a creative within the fashion design space— until now. After building a relationship with the Boston bred Pho Popes, we finally got the chance to bring him on to the pod and discuss his genius. Phor believed in us so much so that he even invited us to come out to a New York Fashion Week event— specifically the Fashion Life Tour hosted by America’s Next Top Model finalist Kiara Belen! After witnessing an event like that it was only right for us to recap the weekend with the reason why we were even in NYC to begin with.
Phor Popes’s designs are very unique with high quality fabrics but also have a street wear undertone that can be worn in various settings. His brand D’BPHOR was clearly one of the most memorable collections at the fashion show for that reason amongst others. Join Charlie MaSheen & KASH as they host Phor Popes and talk about his story, his plan with his brand moving forward, some differences he had with Charlie early on within their interactions, AND SO MUCH MORE! BE SURE TO FOLLOW THIS DESIGNERS JOURNEY AND CONTACT HIM TO GET YOUR CUSTOM PIECES ASAP‼️ TAP IN‼️

Artistry is such a loosely used term these days and we often forget how much work and effort goes into creating something so physically intangible as music. Its a feeling that can’t be described but once you experience it, you just know it’s right. That sensation holds true for a lot of listeners who heard Luke Bar$ for the first time. After recently dropping a masterfully put together project titled “Angels Never Die”, Luke pulls up on us— without his Van Buren Records brothers this time and gives us more insight on who he is as an artist. With every record we hear from the Brockton bred MC we fall more in love with his story and the way he expresses himself not only lyrically but visually and sonically. Join Charlie MaSheen, Shanelle Shanté, & KASH as they host Luke Bar$ in a conversation about his work, his faith, the growth from his 2020 body of work “GoodEvil” till now, & SO MUCH MORE‼️ TAPP INNNNN‼️‼️

For years many people have been trying to push the agenda of “New England Hip-Hop” and have been undoubtedly unsuccessful. There can be multiple explanations for that, but mainly because only 3/6 states in the region have ever really shown any promising talent in the genre. Recently, we have had the opportunity to learn about an artist out of CT who has been making his rounds in the Hip-Hop circuits and has an undeniable sound and story to tell. This artist is from the Bridgeport area and he goes by the name of Showly! We first heard of Showly around the time we sat down with the Hartford, CT native & BSF artist Fuego Base, and we immediately took a liking to his lyrical ability. After looking into his extensive resume of work and recent appearances on platforms like “On The Radar”, “Sway in The Morning” & featuring on songs with one of our hometown staples Millyz, we knew that the “Holy One” is well on his way and we would love to learn more about him!
Join Charlie MaSheen, Shanelle Shanté, & KASH as they host Showly for the first time and talk about his musical journey, life & the music scene in CT, his next moves, AND SO MUCH MORE‼️ OF COURSE WE HAD TO HAVE HIM DELIVER A CLASSIC #RedCupsAndRap FREESTYLE TO TIE IT ALL TOGETHER. DONT MISS OUT ON THIS— YOU JUST MIGHT LEARN SOMETHIN‼️

We always love it when we come across an artist and the first thing you think to yourself is “why haven’t I heard of this guy before?” When the packaging and marketing are as good as the lyrics and the vibes, the music is truly undeniable and becomes infectious to anyone open to hearing something new and fresh. This hold true for the FBL artist OneShotAce! While none of our hosts were familiar with his music prior to his latest project “Big Pressure”, we instantly became fans after a few seconds into hearing track one! Roxbury born and Dorchester raised, Ace gives us some of his life's accords through his art and does it in such a fashion that you can almost hear every single song in a club setting. With big features from Sheff G, Rowdy Rebel, Millyz, and most recently Benny The Butcher, this rapper is well on his way to stardom and we are just happy we’re here to document his progress. Join Charlie MaSheen, Shanelle Shanté, & KASH as we host OneShotAce on the couch for the first time and hopefully not the last. We discuss his style of music, try to get a little of his back story, how he linked up to do features with some of the hottest rappers in NYC right now, AND SO MUCH MORE! THIS IS SURELY AN INSTANT CLASSIC SO TAP IN RIGHT NOW‼️

The street-themed undertones and high-end fashion references are something that most rap fans take to when they hear a singer deliver their vocals mixed in with that type of content. When it comes to R&B most people naturally think “heartbreak and love songs” but this particular artist we have on the podcast this week has created a lane for himself that he classifies as “Hood Blues” and we cant get enough of it. Youngintrue is an artist/producer/songwriter who grew up in Jamaica Plain’s notorious Bromley Heath projects and has a story to share along with a very keen ear for music. While he’s made a name for himself as a singer and a rapper, he’s also produced for many artists from the scene that we enjoy and it’s about time that we talk to Truliano to learn more about him after the release of his latest project “Schenel’s Son”.
Join Charlie MaSheen, Shanelle Shanté, and KASH as we welcome Youngintrue to the show to discuss his story, losing his brother as a child then later losing his mother in his teenage years, how he felt about our rating for his latest body of work, and SO MUCH MORE! Truly and unsung hero from the town, and we’re glad that he pulled up to talk with us. TAP IN‼️

When you've been through some things, it becomes your job to make sure that others after you don't have to make the same mistakes you've made along the way. We can only end certain trends and curses if we have the courage enough to speak out on them and give the youth a way to move forward as better versions of those before them. This is the message that the Mission Hill raised MC who goes by Mission Mike is conveying these days. A few stories about past endeavors are not reasons to glorify street life when we all know what can come from it. After winning a raffle at an event Charlie MaSheen hosted last year, Mission Mike was rewarded a sit down on the project–amongst other opportunities. With a story like his we were excited he was the victor and we welcomed him on to the pod with open arms. To make this moment even better, Mike took it upon himself to bring a special guest with him; someone we've spoken to more than once and one of our favorites from Mission Hill– King Brickz! This was a pleasant surprise and it gave us more insight on how close-knit their community is.
Join us while we host Mission Mike & King Brickz in a conversation about Mike's upbringing and journey through music, unfortunate jail time, how he & King Brickz connected and SO MUCH MORE! You know we couldn't let him leave without giving us some work for #RedCupsAndRap and he didn't disappoint! DON'T MISS OUT ON THIS CLASSIC MOMENT! TAP IN!!!

For the past two plus years we have caught the attention of the RI based artist Hennessy who's angelic voice and radio-ready sounds have been making a lot of noise in and outside of our region. We finally have the opportunity to welcome her to the show and give her her flowers while learning more of her story. With radio play on nationally syndicated stations like Power 105 in NYC, co-signs from players in the game like PartyNextDoor & Kash Paige, opening for big names like Joe, Monica, A Boogie, and touring with Trippie Redd, Jack Harlow, & Lil Tjay, we are very excited for Hennessy and her future! Join Charlie MaSheen, Shanelle Shanté, & KASH as we have an in depth conversation with the PVD raised multi-talented artist on how she plans to #ChooseWhatTheFutureBrings ! WHAT ELSE CAN WE SAY BUT "THANK YOU"! Thank you to the supporters, thank you to the nay-sayers, and anyone in between! This is the last episode that will drop in the 2022 calendar year and it's been one hell fo a year to say the least. Coming off of our 2nd year win at the Boston Music Awards for "Best Music Podcast of the Year" is something that has never been done since the creation of that specific award in 2019 and we are proud to say that we are the first to do it. The broader spectrum of guests we had on the show this year is a true testament to our growth and will to include others who feel unspoken for. This year we did the recap a little different thant the past 2 years while we gave ya'll our choice of the top 10 episodes we've dropped while each host gave ya'll their individual top 5 #RedCupsAndRap freestyles! We shared a lot of laughs and reflection on this talk and got very personal about our own lives. As we grow together as a community it's important to show our sides that are less spoken of and not being shy of our shortcomings. In the end all we can say is we wont stop and we will continue to #ChooseWhatTheFutureBrings YEAR OVER YEAR OVER YEAR OVER YEAR!!! DONT MISS OUT ON THIS YEAR-END CLASSIC!!!

As our last guest of 2022, it's only right that we bring on an artist who's been a major voice and influence within our city and scene for a long time now. When we think about the major R&B players from Boston we often refer to Bobby Brown, Mike Bivins and the rest of New Edition, but there are others who have played a hand in the story of others; even the guys just mention previously. So this week we welcome Cyrus Deshield, the singer/songwriter originally from Liberia who came to the South End section of Boston and became the Grammy nominated creative he is today! Some may remember Cyrus from being a part of the R&B group "617" which rebranded to "Metro City" while under the wing of the for NE Patriot Willie McGinest's record label and Interscope Records. What many don't know are the hardship's Cyrus had to face prior the music with even making his way to the states, the black-balling and politics he faced once he and his peers stepped into the industry, and all the moves he's made in the background as a ghostwriter for many. He's written for the likes of Bell Biv Devoe, New Edition, Musiq Soulchild (which earned him a Grammy nomination), and many more. Within our scene he's been the voice of many hooks with Millyz, Lou Armstrong, Slaine, and other notables. It goes without saying that EVERYBODY should know this man's name and hear his story of perseverance which is far from over!
Join Charlie MaSheen, Shanelle Shanté, & KASH as we welcome Cyrus Deshield to the pod in what was a special occasion as he was in town for his nomination as "Best R&B artist" at this year's BMAs. After we won "Best Music Podcast of The Year" for 2 years consecutively, it was a great feeling to sit across a fellow nominee just one day after the award show to give him his flowers; win or lose! This conversation consisted of Cyrus's earliest memories of leaving a war riddled Liberia and heading to the US, the forming of his days within a group, the ugly side of the music game, AND SO MUCH MORE! DO NOT MISS OUT ON THIS POWERFUL INTERVIEW AND MAKE SURE YOU GO CHECK OUT ALL OF CYRUS DESHIELD's WORK AVAILABLE ON ALL DSPs!
