  • Episode 62: "Divine Inspiration" (w/ International Show)

We've said it before on CWTFB Radio that the music producer is the architect of the track and creates the blueprint of the record. This week we brought somebody on the podcast who has helped the foundation of many artists out of Boston and MA, the multi-talented and well-respected, International Show! From being an artist himself, helping other artists get better, and also recording industry names and plenty of local talent, his name is one that gets around in MANY circles! Show spent some time abroad which made him international but he came back home to create a home of creativity for anyone willing to make quality music.

Growing up in church and religion is not a foreign story for many Hip-Hoppers, but the direction and delivery of the stories change on each accord. International Show had already made a name for himself in MA but in 2014 he decided to no longer create secular music himself and devote his music to Christian Rap. Charlie MaSheen kept going back to this topic on this podcast, and opened up what proved to be a great conversation between two creatives who go back at least a decade. Join us on this 1-on1 between Chizz & Show as they talk about religion in Rap, Hip-Hop as a competitive sport, INTL Show getting dissed on past and recent records, successfully running one the most talked about studios in MA (SOE) and much more! This episode was like a battle between good and evil, Cain and Abel, or maybe even Goku & Vegeta. Either way you don't want to miss this one!

BE SURE TO BUY/STREAM ALL OF INTERNATIONAL SHOW's CATALOGUE ON ALL DSPs, ALONG WITH HIS LATEST SINGLE "Runnin’ Man"!

  • Episode 58: "Level Up Always" (w/ Humbeats)

When it comes to music, the most important part of the record has to be the sound; the song. With Hip-Hop and R&B forever evolving and adding more layers to the genres, it takes certain ears to capture it all and deliver a polished finish product. There are plenty of beat-makers in the industry but not too many can meticulously produce songs around artists like a musical architect, like Humbeats. Hum doesn't necessarily have one sound when it comes to beat making and because of that he's been able to grab the interest of many artists in MA and also some bigger names like Millyz, Dave East, Tsu Surf, and even Styles P!

Coming out of Randolph, a small town in MA's Norfolk county, Humbeats got his start in producing while making beats for his college dorm roommate, an artist from Boston we all know and love, Reem Skully. Since then he's built quite a resume, teaming up with artists and even other producers to create timeless records. Join Charlie MaSheen & KASH as they welcome the locally revered producer who is gaining national attention. Humbeats pulls up to talk his debut studio album "Growth", his billboard campaign to promote the album, his recent relocation to Wakanda (Atlanta, GA) in pursuit of more industry connections and much more!

  • Episode 57: "Southside Legends" (w/ DTheFlyest, BTL Dre & BTL Veiga)

Over the past few years Brockton, MA has been getting a lot of press–and not the type of press some residents of this city just south of Boston is used to getting. There have been many Rap/Hip-Hop movements coming out of Brockton and surrounding areas but there hasn't been one with such viral nature like the one led by the melodic Trap artist, DTheFlyest. Bandits The Label has made a name for themselves locally and nationally and has let us all know they're here to stay–in a major fashion.

In 2019 we were all excited about a record by DTheFlyest called "Fugazi" which featured ATL Trap crooner and superstar Lil Baby! The timing of that record was so crucial and fundamental to the growth and identity of the BTL brand and MA as a music scene, amongst other movements. The video to the record has amassed over 21 Million views on Youtube confirming the validity of the song and the chemistry the two artist shared. That was the same year DTheFlyest dropped his project "Dope Boy Diaries" which some have dubbed his best body of work. This is the same year his label mate BTL Dre dropped his stellar EP "South Side Baby". Dre gave us a piece of his heart on this 7 track project which has what seems like 7 hits back to back!

Join us as we welcome Bandits The Label to the podcast for the first time and have DTheFlyest, BTL Dre, and their manager Fab (Veiga) share a piece if South Side Brockton and explain why they are legends from their neighborhood. Unfortunately there was no #RedCupsAndRap segment this week but this conversation was engagement from start to finish!

  • Episode 56: "Battle of the Voices" (w/ Cassoreli)

In an era of Rap (especially local Rap) which is mostly all-inclusive, real artistry often gets over-looked as long as you have a catchy hook or maybe some gun/drug bars that some street dudes can actually vouch for. Certain people can filter out the ones who are hot right now and the ones who can create timeless art. Cassoreli, formerly known as 'Casso, is one of the artists from Boston who gave us just enough work to keep us wanting more and now he's back with his latest EP "Reclusive Memoirs" and an exclusive sit down with #CharlieMaSheen & #KASH!

This podcast opens up with a different feel, as Cassoreli delivers some intense, ground-shaking bars with Chizz co-piloting the lyrical homicide. A first for CWTFB Radio, we were very excited to have an artist revered by DJs like Papadon & E Dubble open up a segment we will save for rap elites only! Cassoreli pulls up to talk about where he's been as far as inconsistencies with his music, entrepreneurial moves, and even his best impersonation of Charlie MaSheen. The hosts ask him to break down the 4 track EP Reclusive Memoirs and get into his creative process. In what sounds like just a conversation amongst friends, we're sure this will be a fan favorite!

  • Episode 55: "Nonpartisan Artisan" (w/ Kendra Hicks)

As we grow as a platform, we also want to encourage ourselves to do more and learn more. This growth isn't selfish; as we wish it for our viewership and most importantly the communities they come from. Local politics is a way we can all help voice our concerns and needs within our communities, while hopefully creating a sustainable ecosystem than can be duplicated and implemented onto larger bodies of government. With that being said, this week we welcome one of the candidates for the upcoming Boston City Council election, Kendra Hicks!

Kendra has been a resident of Boston's district 6 since the earliest moments of her life, after her family relocated from the Bronx, NYC.

Quoted from her campaign website, www.HicksForDistrictSix.com: "For the last five years, Kendra has been the Director of Radical Philanthropy at the historic Boston-based organization Resist. Founded by world-renowned activist Noam Chomsky just over fifty years ago, Resist has grown–with Hicks at the helm–into a leading force for racial and economic justice. Anchored by a commitment to bring the margins to the center, Kendra supports organizations across the nation in building the culture, structures, and strategies necessary to interrogate white supremacy’s impact on their work. In her current role, Kendra uses her head, heart, and hands to push communities to use their imaginations and the resources at hand to expand beyond the realms of possibility towards liberation."

We fully support Kendra's run for City Councilor, and we were very grateful for her sit down with our hosts Charlie MaSheen (also a resident of Boston's District 6) & KASH. This conversation was just as informational and educational to our hosts as it was hilarious. Get in tune as this strong Black Dominican mother, wife, professional, artist, and real-life super hero gives us a piece of her personality, policy & passion!

    #HicksForDistrictSix !!!!

***THE VIEWS OF OUR HOSTs DO NOT SPEAK FOR KENDRA HICKS AND HER CAMPAIGN. SHE IS SIMPLY A GUEST ON OUR PLATFORM.

  • Episode 54: "When The Meal Look Good" (w/ Most High Kingdom: Najee Janey, Milkshaw Benedict, $ean Wire, & CuRRell)

With many sounds coming out of Boston as of late, it's really hard to keep up with the hottest and the latest. What's really hard to ignore is raw, authentic, purely unadulterated musical synergy and a passion for creating. When you take elements of the great Earth, Wind, and Fire, funk, R&B, a Mos-Def & Talib inspired boom-bap Rap and a smooth laid back cookout vibe–you come out with the collective known as Most High Kingdom. These young brothers have been pioneering a new wave of rappers in the city, and doing it with a very polished and soulful sound.

It's extremely difficult to toss these artists all in one pot because they do different things musically but their chemistry is unmatched with many groups so we love to hear them get together. Najee Janey, Currell, and Milkshaw Benedict all coming from the same family play role in why they mesh so well and with $ean Wire being a life long friend, he's become a part of the family. Coming out of Roxbury and Dorchester, the type of music these artists create may surprise some Hip-Hop fans who hear of other names who have a larger online following in today's market, but every word is felt as a written testament to their lives and their surroundings.

Timing is a common trend of this podcast in particular as Kim Janey (the aunt of 3 out of 4 of these guys) is now the acting Mayor of the great city of Boston. History and heritage is also something the fellas discussed and rightfully so since they come from a family who made history again with the 1st Black and woman Mayor of their hometown.

Join Charlie MaSheen & KASH as they learn more about Najee Janey, Milkshaw Benedict, $ean Wire, & CuRRell. They talk about their work, current and previous, the state of Hip-Hop in Boston, future plans and a slew of random topics and tangents that happen when 6 guys sit down drink and talk! The episode is wrapped up with a HISTORICAL #RedCupsAndRap freestyle which you'd legit have to hear/see to see why you describe it as such.

As much as we all wanted to hurry up and get 2020 over with, we cannot deny how great some of the music coming out of Boston was towards the end of the year! One of the stand-out projects are definitely "You Played You" by the Strip Life representative and Fields Corner native, Prince Smooth! If you ever slept on Prince Smooth, just read the album cover and do better!

After hearing "The Catalina", a 2019 released project by Prince Smooth, it would be difficult to not want to pay attention to him and what he creates musically. The artist uses his wordplay and lyricism to tell stories, evoke a full range of emotions, and even make you dance. Experience is what fuels his creativity and he packages pain into words that will cut deep. Join Charlie MaSheen & KASH as they have a sit down with Prince Smooth for the first time but not the last time.
