Maybe because we didn't have much experience with it prior but JC and Rod didn't expect a series so filled with callbacks to earlier episodes and solid payoffs. At the halfway mark of the season/series, Magneto makes his big move and we get some awesome character moments and fight scenes with basically everyone. Totally understandable why this is one of the top rated episodes of the series.

Unhinged Cyclops along with the introduction of Mister Sinister, despite a cringeworthy use of the capital X in the title this episode has what we love about X-Men. Oh, and that voice of Sinister, definitely wasn't expecting that!Coincidentally, right before we recorded this JC got to meet the voice of Cyclops, Nolan North!

Per X-Men animation tradition, Wolverine needs some memory loss tied to flashbacks and a trip to Canada where he crosses paths with an old teammate and a fight breaks out. Unfortunately, this episode counters the (spoiler-y) director's canon we were following about Sabretooth being offed in Hulk vs. Wolverine being in this same timeline. But on the plus side, more Department H and, more importantly, we get a solid design on Sabretooth.
Don't forget to check out last week's episode where we interviewed the Voice of Rogue, Lenore Zann!

A voice that needs no introduction, Lenore Zann is the voice that many of us hear in our heads when reading Rogue in comics to this day. As the first member of both the original X-Men: The Animated Series and X-Men '97 casts to join us, JC and Rod get to hear some amazing tales about her career, the journey after becoming one of Marvel's most identifiable voices and even finding out how impactful the show was decades after the original broadcast. We spend some time chatting about Lenore's recently released memoir and what comes next for her in addition to X-Men. There are no spoilers for X-Men '97 season 2.

Future Charles gets captured by sentinels while the modern day team... doesn't really do much. But Bishop and a bunch of character cameos are there and put some heavy stakes on the success of Wolverine and his team to prevent the late 2020's from being a pretty awful place.

Some people aren't good parents. Like Magneto. But some kids are the problem. Like Quicksilver. We get X-Men and Brotherhood on this globehopping episode along with the introductions of Nitro (the guy who causes the first heroic Civil War in the comics) and Psylocke! And we finally get our future buddy Charles back.

Despite what IMDb told us that last week's bonus episode for the Hulk vs. Wolverine movie being inspired by Incredible Hulk Issue 181, this episode actually more closely follows Wolverine's debut issue. While it definitely takes some creative license, this encounter between Logan, Banner and the Wendigo hits that classic vibe for us (and has a more satisfying ending than the straight to home video movie did).

So this is a fun one because it is semi-canon to Wolverine & The X-Men but it isn't available "anywhere". Maybe some light Googling will help you find this mini movie where this animated version of Logan encounters The Hulk for the first time with some members of a Department H run team of mercs.
